![Legion Season 1 DVD [Blu-ray]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81f95eOZtqL.jpg)

All eight episodes from the first season of the sci-fi thriller based on the Marvel Comics character Legion. David Haller (Dan Stevens) was diagnosed as a young boy with schizophrenia and spent his life in psychiatric hospitals. While a patient at Clockworks Hospital, David has an encounter with Sydney Barrett (Rachel Keller), a young girl with mutant powers, who suggests to him that he might not actually be ill; he might be a mutant. As government agents interrogate him to find out who he really is, David battles with the reality that he could be the most powerful mutant who ever lived. Review: not your average Marvel show - This is more than just a story being told. If you like Marvel for the big action stuff, you won't find much here. This is better but requires effort on the viewers side to really appreciate it. E.g. in the psychiatrists. Two people sitting opposite each other. Usually symmetrical but here the lamp shade - although the same type and colour is longer. One extra magazine on the doctors side. Rectangles and circles everywhere. Quality is in the details and this is quality. It should be in an art museum. It all adds to the story, the main character having two minds. The colours are fantastic too and used to great effect. Interview romm again almost symmetry but the two similar designed lights showing different colours. The usual today with action sequences is the lights go out, out come the narrow beam torches x files style and you don't get to see the scary bits. Cheap and nasty cop out for untalented directors. Here the female character is chased by the monster in a white room lit in white. Much better but more effort to do and keep the scariness. Other chaos parts lit in red. For these reasons I doubt if the show will be a success. High brow fantastic entertainment that plays with alternative realities - same scenes from different perspectives - and playing around with time really gets across schizophrenia but only if you can follow it. I worry that it will either be dumbed down or will do a Firefly and end prematurely. I hope not but don't see how this level of excellence can be retained without burnout or breakdown of the Director as this flies very close to schizophrenia and I hope no one gets burned. Get it while you can. Review: The cover picture sums it up - So, Marvel are setting up a strong TV call sheet with Daredevil, Luke Cage etc. But the X Men end of the universe is lacking a TV presence. Up steps Legion. A lesser known mutant, with a famous father and scary psychic powers, oh and he has multiple personalities. If Dan Stevens charmed you with his other TV and movie appearances then this is a different set of skills. The main antagonist will be familiar to anyone who watched the 90s X Men cartoon series. If not then it's a whole new kettle of fish as we explore the more psychic end of the mutant powers spectrum. The plot is a slow build, you get the sense that something is not right from the get go. How wrong everything is isn't revealed until late into the season. I actually really loved this. When they get the chance to cut loose and just go crazy then they grab it and make something that works out of it. Go for the scenery, stay for the story. It's a really great watch, highly recommended.

Dares to be different!
If you don't know anything about Legion, then I recommend watching the trailer first & checking whether this is your sort of thing. Because it's very quirky & most people will either love it or just not get it at all. I personally love it a lot, having re-watched it twice & regularly browse clips of it on YouTube. Apparently Legion (aka David) is an obscure X-Men character but this doesn't really have a super hero-ey feel & nor is any knowledge of the comics needed (I didn't have any & I love it!). David is confined to a mental institution & believes everyone who has told him that he is mad but he may also be the worlds' most powerful psychic. A lot of the action happens within David's own mind & at first it's unclear how much is real & even whether certain characters are actually exist or whether they're figments of his mind. On top of that, series creator Noah Hawley says the sets & costumes were designed with a '60's Tomorrow's World 'what the world will look like in the future' kind of vibe too. So it does get pretty trippy. But surprisingly in an age where more conventional series than this one often have ambiguous endings, all is actually explained by the end. This is an incredibly imaginative series on all levels. For example, one particularly memorable sequence is shot in the style of an old silent movie but apparently the cast weren't told this while it was being filmed, as it was only decided afterwards in post-production. And the cast really go for it too - Aubrey Plaza in particular dives head-first into the strangeness & seems to be having the most fun, ever! The acting is superb, there's a large helping of quirky humour, the sets, costume & scripts are divine. It's just perfect! Can't believe I'm saying this but I like Legion even more than Westworld & Game Of Thrones!

Great but a bit too much story
I watched this over the course of a few weeks - so it was a bit confusing and it’s really weird, not really what I expected. If you’re looking for action and a a faced paced drama look else where. There are a few amazing action set pieces but they are few and far between.

Beautiful.
I haven't loved a TV series this much since Firefly. It's weird, convoluted, hard to follow, spooky, beautiful, engaging, and sometimes downright frightening. It starts out with a tiny bit of strangeness, and gradually builds into mental mayhem. It's a little hard to follow, so you have to pay attention - and that alone makes it a rarity, against a background of TV blandness and predictability. The story starts with a man who's apparently schizophrenic, and follows his journey from strangeness and treatment in a psychiatric unit to apparent sanity and then rapidly back into confusion and profound weirdness. Just like him, you feel like you're getting to grips with things then it all slides away again. Some of the scenes are so beautiful that I rewound to watch them again, others had me hiding under a blanket. I recommend this if you don't like being spoon-fed predictable plots, and are into the whole Marvel X Men thing... this takes it to another level. Just brilliant.

Love Legion. Fantastic show. Was sad to see my case was badly damaged during its delivery.... Almost the whole top was shattered.... Disks were fine, and I'm not too picky, so it's alright.

Cancelled too early, Legion was a fantastic show. Glad they released it on Blu Ray for repeated watching.
