Does this have to stay plugged in to work or is it just get charge the battery?

It has to be plugged in to work. I own many different dynatrap devices for inside and outside use. Living in the south with the humidity and wonderful fresh fruit and vegetables this time of year, this has worked best for inside use for us. It's taken care of gnats, fruit flies and no see-ums, etc., wonderfully. The sticky pads for the bottom tend to get expensive in the summer because of the increased amount of critters. To reduce cost, instead of buying the replacements for this dynatrap, I buy the cheap bug, spider or mouse glue traps and cut them down to size. Depending on which glue trap you buy, you can get 2 replacements out of 1 glue trap. Hope this helps and good luck!

Does it work catching Japanese lady beetles?

This trap will work to attract and catch Asian lady beetles.

Where do you find replacement glue pads? They are not available on Amazon
