Quality, Professional equipment
I use DeWalt and Ryobi battery powered power tools. I am retired , was only using them on occasion.I had Ryobi for many years, before I started up a company I only used the Ryobi driver and drill. After the company fired up, I was using many different Ryobi tools, putting many hours on them, at this point even my oldest ones are still working well. I was checking out the DeWalt driver at store and I liked it's feel and size, so I had to find out why DeWalt has been around for a long time. At this point I am very happy with it's design, the light on the front has served me well on many occasions. I wasn't sure about the speeds 1 thru 3, but after using them I found them very useful. It has a lot of power, which I definitely love. I use it exclusively at this point and have since purchased a reciprocating saw, and a cut off tool. The brand new cut off tool is another story. Right out of the box it was defective, spindle had probably half inch of play in and out. And, spindle lock did not work at all. I've never purchased a Ryobi tool that was defective out of the box, plus they all still operate to this day. I will let you know if there is a problem with this driver

Incredible tool!
This tool is simply awesome! I have an older single speed one that I keep in my Jeep tool box and wanted one for the garage as well. This thing seriously outperforms the older, single speed model and I love that thing. I wasn't sure whether I would use the various speeds but last night while working on the Jeep I ended up using the slow speed and the high speed so it has proven it's purpose. The high speed setting is ridiculously fast and powerful. I had the lug nuts off both of my vehicles in seconds and back on as quickly. I am going to have to cautiously test the power of the high speed setting though with some spare nuts and bolts because it set my lug nuts to right about 90 ft/lbs. My older model will set them well also but I only had to turn the torque wrench about 10 degrees to hit 100 ft/lbs. The slow speed setting (which is still a decent speed) doesn't apply near the torque and was perfect for setting small 10mm bolts. There is a different feel when setting bolts at slow speeds as the tool feels like it stalls once the nuts/bolts are set. This is a good thing, just different that the higher speed settings where it impact drives after the nuts/bolts are set. The quality of the tool is excellent as one would expect from DeWalt. One of the most notable improvements is the brushless design that, I swear, doesn't use any battery power at all. My batteries seem to last forever and I use this (and my older model 20V brushless driver) nearly daily. They could probably make the unit solar powered and save the batteries completely. The one most notable improvement over the previous 20V brushless driver is that the knurled lock for the driver bits it more pronounced and easier to use when wearing gloves to swap out bits. I would most definitely buy this product again!

Small but mighty, better than the ATOMIC version by a mile.
Arrived with belt clip in a small branded DeWalt box. Was surprised to see no driver bit was included, as often drill drivers have a basic bit to start with. First impression is very good. I like the three radial LED lights on the front of the driver. I have the smaller ATOMIC version of this XR driver and this driver is only slightly larger in the parallel axis, the body size is approximately identical. The first task i used this for was tightening a particularly stubborn T25 Torx screw used for a door hinge assembly. On Level 1 of 3, the driver did not advance the screw at all, apparently there is a torque sensor associated with each power level. On level 2, the driver successfully tightened the screw to my desired torque, and in the process destroyed the Torx driver bit that I was using. I am very impressed. I don't leave reviews very often but this was worthy. If you need compact torque, I highly recommend this item.

Debated this one (845 XR) or the Atomic (850) - note: there are even newer ones coming
So, when the VERY short Dewalt Atomic 850 driver came out it got great reviews and really outpowered almost every other driver in the Dewalt ecosystem. I was sold, but then I started to read reviews mentioning reliability issues (from trades people in particular). Indeed, there were a LOT of them reporting they just didn't hold up. Around this same time, Dewalt released the 840 driver (Sheesh Dewalt....too many drivers!), and it had even more power, but was a little longer and had no speed controls. I assumed Dewalt would release a new XR version to replace their older (but still around) driver and sure enough - this 845 XR came along. Honestly, I'm pretty happy with it overall. Balance, power, control, etc. - all work really well for me. I just used it to install some shower grab bar anchor screws just the other day. No complaints for my uses cases which don't include driving a lot of big lags. The only downside to this tool and even the 850 was that it did not move the bar in terms of sheer power (important IF that is what you need) - especially as compared to Milwaukee and their monster drivers. If you do need that power, then maybe a Milwau....wait, this just in, Dewalt is releasing TWO MORE drivers this year. One is a hydraulic impact (nice for inside use!) and the other is clearly designed to go after Milwaukee on the power front. At first, I regretted not waiting for the new, more powerful, driver they ar releasing, but honestly, it is bulkier, likely heavier and, again for my use case, I'd rather have the smaller tool with likely more finesse (maybe not Makita level finesse, but still good). It is all about the RIGHT tool for the job (which is also why I have the more compact DCD800 drill driver as my every day drill over the BIG 99* series). Nothing wrong with the BIG BOY tools, but overkill for a lot of jobs. I am, of course, tempted by the new hydraulic driver...can't wait!

Great Impact
Good value for the money. I did buy a off brand set of batteries and they seem to do the trick. Very versatile and tough.

Dewalt Impact Driver is impressive.
My husband purchased this Dewalt impact driver and we are thoroughly impressed so far. I have attached 2 videos to show the power this tool has and the comparison of the Ryobi brushless impact driver vs Dewalts. We still love our Ryobi tools, and use them as homeowners for things around the house or crafting I do. However my husband has gotten into wood working and the more he learns and grows his shop, the tools he needs will change. I highly suggest this Dewalt driver if you are into woodworking and building larger builds.

The Gold Standard for Cordless Driving Power
This DEWALT 20V MAX XR impact driver redefines expectations for compact tools. The brushless motor delivers 1825 in-lbs of torque in a package lighter than most competitors, while the 3-speed selector lets me match power to the task - from delicate cabinet work to driving 6" lag bolts. After six months of daily professional use, it shows no signs of wear and maintains consistent power through entire battery charges. **Key Features:** ✔ **Precision Control**: Electronic brake prevents over-driving ✔ **Compact Design**: Fits in tight spaces (5.3" head length) ✔ **Durable Construction**: Survived multiple 10ft drops ✔ **Efficient Brushless Motor**: 57% more runtime than brushed **Performance Highlights:** - Drove 500+ deck screws on single charge - Removed rusted trailer hitch bolts effortlessly - Maintained speed under load **Technical Advantages:** ✓ 0-3,400 RPM / 0-3,800 IPM ✓ Belt hook included ✓ LED worklight with 20-second delay **Why Professionals Choose It:** - Actually fits between 16" on-center studs - Provides noticeable vibration reduction - Delivers consistent power until cutoff **Perfect For:** • Framing crews needing all-day tool • Electricians running conduit • Automotive technicians While tool-only, it's worth investing in DEWALT's 20V system. The balance and power make this my go-to for any driving task, eclipsing heavier models I've used for years. **Why 5 Stars?** - Exceeds pro-grade expectations - Innovative speed control prevents material damage - Built to withstand jobsite abuse A rare tool that makes you work faster with less fatigue. The DCF845B has become my most reached-for driver, proving that smart engineering beats raw power alone. **Note:** Pair with 5Ah battery for heaviest tasks. **Pro Tip:** Use speed 1 for precision work, speed 3 for stubborn fasteners. This impact driver represents the perfect balance of power, control, and durability - worth every penny for serious users. It's ruined me for lesser tools. **Bonus:** The tri-LED light actually illuminates the work area effectively.
