This was very fun. Just wished they would post that to get the eggs cost $19...for shipping and prossesing. We did get 6 in our container. It was fun watching them grow to butterflies. I still have all of the items to do it again. May try praying mantis next time.

I get one of these every year for my kids (now 10 & 7) and they are equally excited every time. It is such a cool hands-on learning experience for them to watch every developmental stage of the butterfly. You do have to order the caterpillars separately but it is for a small charge (under $10). The only reason I don't keep the habitat and replace it each year is because it gets stained during the transformation stage (a little gross) so I prefer to just buy a new clean one each year. This kit never disappoints!

Watching this butterfly land on a rose felt like the perfect ending to a journey we started weeks ago with the National Geographic Butterfly Growing Kit. What began as tiny caterpillars in a small container turned into one of the most memorable experiences I’ve shared with my two toddlers. This product has a good, durable quality, so you can get multiple uses out of it. However, the shipping for the caterpillars costs almost just as much as this kit.

10/10 we have used for now 2 years. My 4,2, and 7 month old all enjoyed this activity. Caterpillars came and survived (all 6 in each). Suitable for toddlers and we've gifted this to our cousins. Instructions are clear and straightforward. You do have to use the voucher to purchased caterpillars BUT only pay for shipping (like $7 I believe).

What a fantastic gift!! Purchased for my grands! We sent off for the larvae, followed the directions and a few weeks later we had beautiful butterflies!! Definitely a win!! So much fun and educational!! Attached is a picture of the growing caterpillars and the full grown butterfly

Arrived without the caterpillars. I was annoyed by this but saw there was a piece of paper that said “caterpillar voucher” for 5 free butterfly larvae and it said no voucher code required however there is a voucher code required to get them for free. It does say shipping and handling not included which was fine because that was only a little over $1. I was annoyed though with having to pay for the caterpillars when it states that you get 5 free.

Huge disappointment to receive the kit without the caterpillars, and to fine out that the voucher does not cover Australia only at delivery of the kit. Why do you allow us to purchase the item If you are not allowed to ship it complete to the selected address?

Terrible present !! I bought 3 only to discover the voucher to order the larvae is useless as it doesn’t deliver to UAE!! Please refund

Have a grandchild who was thrilled with the kit until we all realized it here’s no chrysalis’s included and you have to order from US. US not allowed to ship to Canada-across any borders…. We have a beautiful netted home for caterpillars to hatch into butterflies to look at… Total rip off at the cost especially insulting without the chrysalis being shipped alongside. Even in US you have to place order after you receive the kit, to get the chrysalis so child is with a gift that is unusable. Until, if in US, you put in the order that is the whole concept of the gift/kit.

The larvae come from the us and they dont slip to australia, so you can buy the kit but you will have to get the butterflies elsewhere.
