Amazing insights and scholarship! A Must Read for committed Christians!
If I understood Mr. Johnson correctly, I believe this book is an integral part of Ken Johnson's ministry, which is predominantly, in print form. As Dr. Johnson explains, he became saved in adolescence, attended several churches over as many years, and became stirred to understand the problem in the church, in the issue and existence of denominations. This book explains the historical roots of the early Chrstian church, and through the various forms of literary and historical evidence, shows the events, errors and activities, which led to the many denominations which comprise contemporary Christian faith and thought. The book however, is I believe, much more than just the history of the early church! The narrative Dr. Johnson provides is a clear explanation of the historical, political and ideological events and movements which both informed, and confused and distorted, the growth of Christianity. For myself, I find Dr. Johnson's work to be excellent in his scholarship, his conclusions, and his theology. Moreover, I find this book, and all others I've read by KJ, to be informative in the extreme, in that these books answer many of truly difficult, oft debated and thorny issues, facing today's Christian. A great example, is the early letters by church fathers, from the first couple of centuries, shows that the early church was in agreement on most major doctrinal issues, as they learned them from the disciples of Christ firsthand! They had personal insight into many contentious issues, and could correct heretical or errant ideas with utmost authority, as the teachings of Christ, the personal questions and learning of the disciples and apostles, were extant and available for reproof! These insights are invaluable to today's serious, practicing Christian! The truth as understood by the followers of Christ, His Disciples and Apostles, on such contentious teachings as;The Rapture of The ChurchMillennialism and AmillennialismIslamDemonsAbortionEuthanasiaEvolutionHomosexualityYogaWomen in ministryPredestinationReincarnationPurgatoryPsychologyMeditationIf you seek authoritive answers for your Faith, this book, and others by Ken Johnson offer clear, authoritive insights, that you are unlikely to find at your place of worship!

Very Informative
This is an easy to read book that explains what the early Church Fathers who either knew the Apostles, or who were taught by people who knew them, thought about many issues that affect the church today. If you want to know what the early church fathers taught, I recommend this book.

Jesus's Note
As an avid history buff, this book is so satisfying as it gets as close to eyewittnesses as possible. It should be used in any apologetics course taught or studied in , my opinion, for that very reason. But more astonding than the clear and concise tracing of each father and topic, truth and error, is a short couple of pages on an ancient document that is said to be a written response by Christ. This,in fact. would be the only one!! Getting to read the circumstances and actual note was so very thrilling!! Why aren't more scholars sharing that with others? The author seems to go to great lengths to explain the steps he takes to uncover the origin of both the truth and error of our Christian faith. The book is very clear in thought and very balanced in approach. The material speaks volumes as to how far our various churches may have strayed from the original teaching of our Lord. It is a great check up. It will definitely open eyes to many myths, traditions, and flase teachings that have crept into the church. It is worth getting for anyone who believes it is better to study history by studying it from eyewittness accounts or close sources!

Breakfast of Champions for Christian Apologetics!
If you really love to study the Bible this book is an indispensable tool for the modern day Berean. Here you will find the Genesis of many Christian doctrines from those who walked with, and were taught by the Disciples of our risen Lord Jesus Christ.Which doctrines were considered impeachable, which were based only on tradition and which are heresy.Far to many of these demonic ancient Gnostic writings are making a come back, tickling the ears of fanciful and experiential Church dabblers This book will tell you who the early Church Fathers were. What were the Primary and Secondary doctrines they taught.Ken Johnson surprises the reader by writing about the origins of many cults such as Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormonism.Ancient yet modern moral issues (Abortion, suicide, homosexuality, etc.),Calvin's predestination,Catholicism,Islam, paganism, end times,etc..etc.A wonderful plethora of diverse Biblical subjects and information. This book was hard for me to put down.A great purchase for the library of any Pastor or any member of the Body of Christ who is hungry to learn more.Ken Johnson will give you something good and tasty to eat...ancient,original truths!

What every apologist should know
I highly recommend this book for those who are looking for a concise look at the early church before heresy really took hold in the true Church. The earliest "theologians" and apologists for the church were those taught by the Apostles and they give us much valuable information on what to be aware of in the last of these days.Ken Johnson has done an exceptional job of compiling what the beginning researcher and apologist of today needs.Kudos, Ken Johnson, and Praise the LORD for HIS mercy and guidance in producing this informative work.
