flue cleaner
great product but you cant see up the pipe as my head wont fit in the pipe? :-)the flames go a different colour as it works and burns for a considerable time? so I can only assume that the product works? time will tell as this is my first season with a stove for multi-fuel burning? its the best product I have bought so look forward to a great life of hot coals and logs for many years to come so I need to look after it, it seems to work fine as if I have a little tar from logs etc. when I place one of these sachets on the fire it clears the glass too so it seems to work fine

I use it
I can't say if it is really helping. The chimney cleaner says no. When i saw the result after cleaning my chimney with their brush i was shocked.

Tub is more effective, but these are convenient.
Let’s just assume these products work. There is much debate on this but in my experience they certainly do no harm, do seem to make tar precipitate and therefore I see no downside - and they burn with a fantastic blue flame - (which competing products do not as a matter of interest). So with that out the way, the rest of the review is about using the sachets versus getting the big tub. The sachets are convenient, mess free, easy to store BUT are comparatively expensive and can end up not working as well. When you use the big tubs, you put two scoops over the fire. This has the downside of creating smoke, needing the door open etc- but what it does allow is an even and effective spread of the product over the fire. With the sachets, you just open the stove door and chuck in the sachet - but what can happen is the product doesnt spread and what you get is a hardened blob of cleaner left in the fire - it basically hasn’t burnt. A waste of money in effect. You can partly mitigate this by putting it on a roaring fire, by riddling and so on - but ultimately, i find it a less effective way of delivering the product compared to the tubs. It’s also WAY more expensive per fire in this format. So 3 stars because of that.

Good product for your chimney.
These are handy sachets for protecting the chimney. You here horror stories about dripping chineys as creosote is formed from burning logs, these appear to stop that from happening. I sweep my own chimney and it's as dry as a bone! No mess like you can get with the tubs of powdered stuff as its already enclosed in a sachet for you. Just drop one on the fire avery week or so and watch the blue flames. Good product.

Cleaning blue flames
I bought these to help keep my chimney clean as I'm a woodburner novice and don't always get it right. So far I've used two sachets, and it's all very simple - packaging burns, flames go blue and the cleaner does it's work. The test will be when I get the sweep in to see how mucky (or not) the chimney is, but for now, everything looks fine.

It works
The guy who sweeps my chimneys came yesterday, first time since November 2017, and he could tell that I had been using a product of some sort. Instead of large chunks of sticky debris (I have a multi-fuel burner and a very tall chimney!) there was a heap of remarkably dry soot, and he & I put this down to the Provax powder. I buy the sachets which I find easier to use. The sweep has recommended that I keep on using it regularly.
