Enjoyed the book and the story. It was good to read a novel about the war that centred on less affluent people and the family bond that existed between them, especially in the northern cities like Liverpool which of course had its Irish connections.

The story was a not particularly compelling
The story was a bit weak with a bit too much of long winded dialogue that didnt enhance the storyline. I also found the over use of the phrases like 'so he did' and 'so' this that and the other were a bit grating. Not one of my favourite books and I was quite relieved to get to the finish.

Loved this book.
A great story which is based between Ireland and Liverpool before and during the war years. The characters tell the own stories beautifully, could not the book down. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

not one of her best
I was expecting something different with life in the forces but very little of the book covered that period.

A super read
A good holiday read. Very easy to read and a good ending. Many twists and turns and good and sad times.
