Peter Pan (Illustrated): The 1911 Classic Edition
I have been absolutely enthralled by this book lately. I had assumed, perhaps 'cos of Disney, that this would be a "simple" children's book. Not at all. It has a captivating, darker edge to it. Hugely imaginative, almost surreal, with a wonderful (sometimes humorous) take on how imaginative a child's land of make believe can be.I should have read this decades ago. But even now, it still makes perfect sense. Recommended.

Bought for a grandchild
Bought as grandchild was going to see the Pantomime of Peter Pan. Chosen moderate difficulty as the language is not modern and child is of English/French parentage with first language French. Would probably be easy for a similarly able child.

Such a classic
this classic children's novel follows the adventures of a mischievous young boy named Peter Pan. Refusing to grow up, Peter lives in the magical world of Neverland with pirates, fairies, and mermaids¬. With the help of the Lost Boys and the Darling children, Peter bravely battles the evil Captain Hook and his pirate crew in an endless chase around the magical island. This is a well written page turner which is really captivating

The Real Story
I am 71 years old. I've always loved the whole idea of Neverland and the boy who wouldn't grow up.Now, I have finally read the original version of Peter Pan. Someone had told me I wouldnot like it because there were differences in the characters. Different than the Disney movie, that is.Yes, they're more complex, and that makes the story richer! Peter is charming; also conceited and thoughtless. Tink is cute and magical, jealous and mean! Captain Hook is ruthless and evil, but lonely and scared. I also appreciate J. M. Barrie's style of writing. It's as if he's narrating the story in real time while having a conversation with the reader about it. No wonder this is a classic!

Who doesn't love Peter Pan?
Who doesn't love Peter Pan? It's a timeless tale, not Disney one, so the context should be taken into account. Yet with many lessons to learn for younger generation. Nice quality!
