Taste of Greatness.
Amazing product that is packed with a beautiful fragrance and loaded with taste. I love adding them to a baked potato or in a bowl of pchili. The only mistake I made was not buying a bigger container. Don't make the same mistake.

Good Addition to my Staples
Fresh shallots can be rather pricey up here in Alaska, and 'though I don't use that much in my daily cookery I do like to incorporate all of the ingredients in a given recipe. I'm never able to buy enough fresh shallots at our farmer's markets, whether to try to dehydrate or to preserve as pickled. At opening, I thought first of a good, flavorful onion soup. I'm going to taste test with both water and white wine in reconstituting but I also expect to add depth to my soups. Thus this jar has taken its rightful place next to all of the dehydrated vegetables that I've ordered through Amazon. This is my introduction to this brand, one whose other products I expect to explore in future orders.

Impressive quality
Surprisingly high quality. If you take the time to reconstitute (re-hydrate) before you use them you can hardly tell the difference from "fresh" shallots.

Great value
The fresh shallots are expensive and the shelf life isn't that great and so you don't by many. If you need some than you use gas to go to the store if you need some. Remedy this was such a small investment. You reconstitute for salads, burgers. I will be putting in an airtight container which will last a very long time. The smell and tastes, ease of use (no chopping). Great value

Strange residue under lid
I ordered this because it sounded good and it would of been nice to have in the kitchen. My item arrived with a broken seal the foil is very thin. The Item also has a black lid on it instead of the silver/gray color in the photo. The lid has brown residue under it and for the life of me I can't figure out where it came from. Maybe it was a replacement lid for another product.

These are the best!
I often use shallots when I cook. They are a more subtle taste than onions. Whole bulbs ones aren't always available and sometimes they're a bit pricey only to have them go bad by the time you use up a package of them. I found these and took a chance. $30 seemed like a lot, but being freeze dried, you're getting what seems like a lot of product. When I add them to soups and stews, I measure out whatever tsp or Tbsp amount is needed and just throw them in. But when making a sauce or topping, I put the amount into a small bowl with a bit of water and let them plump up. I strain off any excess liquid, add them to my pan and then they cook up just as if they were the shallots I dice up myself from a bulb.
