This is pure pop, in fact I'm sure there's a 70's influence in the music of one of them. But I think her voice is just amazing - interesting, powerful and a great range which makes listening to this a real pleasure.Songwriting, which I don't see has any credit to Larsson, is good too with some unusual takes on well-worn themes. Personally I like the 'story' lyrics as well i.e. words that actually make sense and aren't repeated endlessly, which for me makes the songs easier to listen to on the umpteenth time ;-)My 12-year old asked: "is she singing 'well I'm a retard baby, such a retard'?", to which we had a good laugh over, followed by "Dad, what's a 'retard'?". Everything is a learning opportunity :-) You'll have to listen to the album to understand what he meant.
