I actually bought 2 of these, one for my son's Boy Scout troop gift exchange, and the other for our son for Christmas. The box doesn't really give a hint to the product, but once kids found out what was inside, this was one of the gifts that was "stolen" during the gift exchange. My son had helped choose this gift and really wanted one himself, so we surprised him with it Christmas morning. Assembly was easy and the pictured instructions were simple for him (a 12 year-old) to follow without help. You will need a small Phillips head screwdriver, but that's it. The surprise was how good this speaker sounds! It was easy for him to pair and the sound is really quite good. Frankly, I was expecting something rather "tinny" at this price point, but that's not the case at all. We are all very pleased and feel like this kit was fun and a good value. If I were to make any improvement, it would be to have it be plug-in or rechargeable rather than taking 4 AA batteries. I realize that would probably increase the cost, but it would be worth it in my opinion as I cannot keep batteries in this house. Otherwise, this is a great little item!

MY SON LOVED THIS GIFT. HE IS A BUILDER AND LIKES MESSING WITH STEM ITEMS. HE BUILT IT IN NO TIME. I WAS SUPRISED HOW LOUD THE LITTLE THING WAS. HE HAD ALOT OF FUN BUILDING IT AND THEN DECORATING THE OUTSIDE WITH HIS DRAWINGS. INSTRUCTIONS WERE EASY TO FOLLOW AND I FEEL LIKE HE LEARNED ABOUT CIRCUIT BOARDS A LITTLE MORE. JUST DONT FORGET TO BUY BATTERIES FOR IT I THINK IT WAS 4 AA

Huge hit with the 13yrold. Really fun and educational project. The instructions are clear and it’s satisfying to build something that actually works. Great STEM activity/gift for kids and adults. Still using it a couple years later.

To say that this is an elementary kit is over stating. It is more like lego with a wood cut box that press fits like any of my WoodGears projects. I think my cat could have assembled it if I would hand her the little screwdrivers. On the fun side the construction is straight forward and everything fits together like it should. The various components plug together, no soldering required, it has synthetic, metallic, speakers and is very solid when you finish. When I tested it on my media player the Bluetooth synced almost immediately and I was quite impressed by the sound quality and volume from this little box. The 4 AA batteries on the back are a bit awkward but you can't really see them, For the price it is a great little Bluetooth speaker that can be built by just about anyone.

For a battery operated Bluetooth speaker this is a pretty good speaker, has great sound. It was pretty easy to put together.

I got this for my 5yo son. I did have to help him put it together but it was fun to build with him. Its a great educational DIY kit. all the pieces fit nicely also. the speakers actually sound good too. He connects it to his tablet via bluetooth and jams out to music all the time.

my autistic teen had fun building this with me. it was easy to build and educational; the sound quality totally blew us away!! most stuff we build, she loses interest in as soon as we are done, but this little speaker is so cool and sounds better than all of our 'store bought' bluetooth speakers. we totally recommend this item for people who like bluetooth speakers and like to build stuff. you gotta try it to believe the quality coming from this thing!! i plan on helping her paint it, but she seems to think it's beautiful just the way it is.

Its easy to build. There's no real problem solving or anything. The speakers are not good. They don't teach you about the size of the box for speaker volume reference. Nothing about porting a speaker box. Eh the bluetooth chip might be fun to salvage.
