My 8-year-old son has been a fan of the Dragon Masters series since he began reading chapter books independently, and even a year later, he still enjoys revisiting them. His 5-year-old brother also loves listening to the stories. In Legend of the Star Dragon, the 25th installment, Drake and his fellow Dragon Masters are on a quest to summon the legendary Star Dragon using the Star Flute, aiming to counter the looming threat of the Shadow Dragon. The narrative introduces new characters and challenges, maintaining the series' engaging and adventurous spirit. The book continues the series' tradition of accessible language, short chapters, and illustrations on every page, making it a good fit for young readers transitioning to chapter books. The story is straightforward yet reasonably interesting, striking a balance that keeps children engaged without overwhelming them. While the plot follows a familiar structure, it doesn't detract from the enjoyment. The consistency can be comforting for young readers, and the introduction of new elements keeps the story fresh. The availability of audiobooks on platforms like Audible and Spotify means you can also listen to these books (again and again) in the car, or for more than one kid at once. Overall, Legend of the Star Dragon is a nice addition to the Dragon Masters series, which my kids love so much that I will definitely give it 5/5 stars.

Tween has been reading this series for a few years now and continues to read the new books, though the child is past the readership age. Easy to read and follow the story. This same child is also doing Algebra/Geometry and early Chemistry, but this book series seems to still hold the child's attention.
