The cable is extremely short - measures about 6 inches. Works flawlessly though!
I use this cable to connect a laptop bluray drive to my desktop computer, and it works flawlessly. It does indeed offer true USB3.0 speed as I can see from the read and write speeds of the drive. I don't mind the length but if 6 inches of cable isn't enough for you then you'll want to also buy a USB3 extension or just get a product with a longer cord. The cord itself just seems like it's heat-shrink cable wrap, as it is thin and you can see the bulges and outlines of the cables that it houses within the wire. Also, if it is bent too far, a nasty-looking crease occurs in the cable, and I would not want to use this in a highly mobile application if that is a concern. My drive doesn't move on my desk at all so it's fine for me, but if you're using something that you intend to move aorund a lot, this isn't going to last long for you.

Did it's Job
Needed for a removed CD/Writer from a Toshiba Laptop. It allows it to be a "external drive" which I can now plug into any other computer. Works great!

Extremely short cord but works just fine
Only buy this if you're aware it's a short (5" maybe) cord that's very rigid and therefore you will have to get creative with set-up. Because I only rarely use my external disc drive, and because I was able to plug it into the USB ports on the top of my desktop PC, it works for me and is fine. Works fine plugged into side of laptop, but for a desktop it will definitely be much more annoying depending on where your USB ports are located.

This can connect a DVD ROM to another computer.
I had a laptop computer with a DVD-ROM, but it crashed (let's not worry about how I caused it). I bought a new laptop, but it didn't have a DVD-ROM drive, and I wondered if I could connect the old driver to the new computer. The answer is yes, and this product is how. It connects from the drive to a USB port to transfer the data, and provides power to the drive to run it. Works as intended.

Awesome! I was able to clone microsata drives easily
Not always easy to find microsata cables but these arrived quickly and were a perfect fit. They appear nicely made and I was a le to clone my hard drives and update them to SSD with no difficulty!

this destroyed my micro sata!
it got overheat really fast and made my sata really hot. now my sata cannot be read anymore.
