The Isle of Man Government is launching a new series to honour those magnificent planes of World War II. Struck in Cupro-nickel the series contains nineteen coins depicting a World War II aircraft. These crowns, approved by Buckingham Palace and bearing an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, depict some of the most important planes from Britain, USA, Germany, Japan, Russia and Australia used during World War II. This crown coin from the Isle of Man features the Soviet Mig 3 interceptor and fighter. The Mig 3 designed by the legendary Mikoyan and Gurevich, had a top speed of 398 miles per hour at 24,000 feet.
