These are absolutely lovely and perfect for my garden. Do yourself a favor and get them. Also, they do come with a marking pen which I thought was fantastic.

I bought the plain aluminum ones.Those people writing on these with a permanent marker (sharpie) will find that the ink will fade in a matter of days in sunlight. They only give you a sharp little tool - the size of a ball point pen tip - which only allows you to make scratches. Writing with them barely shows up. I tried with a larger ball burrnisher I have and the aluminum doesn't give like copper would. I'm a jeweler, so I have a set of metal letter stamps but that is a huge time consuming pain.If you want plant tags that actually hold up, Amazon sells some white plastic ones you stick in the soil, and if you write on them with a soft pencil (like a 4-6 B) the writing will last all season.

These are super nice, very well-made and look nice, however, the pen that comes with them fades in the sun so I have been using a regular fine point sharpie and that seems to do the trick!
