Deep River

Utada Hikaru is known in America as the singer of the Kingdom Hearts themesongs "Simple and Clean" and "Sanctuary" and their Japanese counterparts "Hikari" and "Passion". While they're all wonderful songs, Utada has much more to offer than just these titles.Hikari is on this album, but all the other songs have wonderful beats and moods. They each tell their own story. You'd have to look the lyrics up to get english translations, but aside from actual lyrics they are all different and enchanting in their own way. Some are relaxing and quieter while others are upbeat, but they all take you on a journey as you listen to them, a pleasant little escape. Utada has a wonderful voice to contribute to these songs.Overall, Deep River is an awesome CD and anyone can enjoy it, not just fans of Kingdom Hearts and Anime.

About (A music fan from Sendai, Japan)'s review above. This person is just plain stupid. Utada is one of the most popular jpop artists in Japan, and it is albums like these that put her at the top. I didn't even notice this was a special edition, so the "Colors" single is a wonderful bonus, especially since I wasn't expecting it. My only dissapointment is that the single didn't have the Japanese version of "simple and clean", it had the English version, which is good, but I wanted the other one instead. Oh well, this album is more than worth it.

After her first three the quality went down, but I still like.

It's been several years since I first discovered this album, and I was very disappointed to find out it was not on iTunes. So, the only way for me to get the full album (some of the singles are on Google Play Music) was to buy the CD. I always feel very calm listening to this album, especially Sakura Drops (the first track). To be honest, I've listened to it while trying to fall asleep several times—it's that calming! It's definitely a twist from her R&B albums, especially the ones she's put out in English.

IF HUMANITY WAS TO MAKE A LIST OF THE 100 BEST ALBUMS EVER RELEASED BY MAN, THIS ALBUM WOULD BE ON IT. DON'T BE SURPRISED IF IT MADE THE TOP 10 YOU DON'T HAVE TO KNOW JAPANESE TO KNOW HOW THIS ALBUM MAKES YOU FEEL. WHEN I GOT THIS ALBUM I HAD TEARS IN MY EYES. MASTERFULLY WRITTEN, SUNG, ABSOLUTELY THE BEST.

They sent me a completely different item ... don't know how they could of mixed the cd up...was very disappointed ... wish they had given me the album woulda given cd 5 star..

I bought this as a gift for my sister, she really likes Utada and had been looking for this album for a while. She really likes it.

When I first the cd I was really disappointed. I had heard all the singles and they were good. But overall the album sounded very dark and melancholic. But after hearing it for some more time, now I think that all the songs are great but all of them stand out individually rather than together with each other. But if you like r&b this is a good buy since Utada's voice is good.
