Sturdy, smooth design, practical, great purchase
This filing cabinet is sturdy and checks all the boxes: fits in my office, plenty of storage, aesthetically pleasing, locks, and is functional. I was impressed with this filing cabinet starting with the packaging (I'll explain everything going in order of my photos. If they get uploaded out of order, it's not terribly hard to figure out which I'm referring to). I was expecting at least a dent on this. It's heavy and you never know when buying something from Amazon how the seller is going to ship it. Upon opening the box, I wasn't worried about any dents. It's encased in thick, dense styrofoam (thankfully the kind that doesn't get all over the place!), split into two halves to cover the top and bottom of the filing cabinet (1st photo is the view when the box is opened, 2nd shows the top part of the styrofoam piece, 3rd shows the filing cabinet in the box without the top styrofoam piece). This weighs 50lbs and I had to get it up to my office on the second floor of my home and I wasn't too sure what the best way to go about that would be (I weigh 100lbs and am not very muscular). I ripped the cardboard box open at the seam and then carefully cut/ripped a side without a seam in order to access the filing cabinet (4th photo). I was pleasantly surprised the bottom was also in a thick piece of styrofoam. I took it out of the box and removed the plastic covering the top, tilted it forward with the bottom styrofoam still on so as to not dent the edges, then lifted it and brought it upstairs. I lifted it out of the bottom styrofoam piece when I got to the top of my stairs (it's a snug fit but was able to be removed by holding it between my legs as I lifted the cabinet up and out - no complaints about the snug fit, it's proper packaging) and there's some sturdy reinforcement thing in that piece (5th photo), which was also good to see. I put it in my office to the side of my desk where I initially thought I'd put it, but it looked weird there the way my office is set up. Thankfully it's very easy to slide across a hardwood floor when empty! It still requires effort, but much less than picking it back up and it didn't scratch my floor as I moved it to under my desk (6th photo). Reposition it, if you need to, before you fill it up (check to make sure the drawers won't bump into anything when fully pulled out, etc). The two keys it comes with are attached and the cabinet comes locked. Before unlocking it, I noticed slim pieces of cardboard along the openings around the drawers - again, great care was taken when this was shipped! (7th photo) 8th and 9th photo show the supply tray that people have mentioned in their reviews. It doesn't slide back and forth along a railing but you can lift it out and reposition it (or put it in a different drawer - it came in the second drawer but it's more practical for me to put it in the top drawer, which I did without issue). I can live with this (and if I can't, I can always get rid of the tray). It was secured with a piece of masking tape on each side and the residue washed off of the plastic tray with soap and water. In the top drawer, there's a metal divider (10th photo) which makes a rattling noise when the drawers are being opened and closed but that'll probably quiet down when I actually put things in the drawers. I was concerned about the positioning when I tried to lift it up and it couldn't be removed, but looked at the underside of the drawer and saw the divider is held in place with a zip tie loop around each of the two little nubs that stick through the bottom, which I can easily snip off to reposition (11th photo). The bottom drawer fits letter sized hanging file folders. I'm used to seeing metal bar inserts on the left and right hand side of file cabinet drawers (or a metal divider bar) and this doesn't have any, but the inside of the drawer comes in slightly which perfectly fits hanging file folders (12th photo). It's worth mentioning the sliding mechanism for the drawers is VERY smooth. I couldn't get a good photo of this, but showed this in my video - my floor isn't level so the cabinet rocked a bit. I reached under the cabinet without lifting it up and found one of the legs, which all have the ability to level out the cabinet. I was able to twist the leg I needed to with little effort (they're large enough with a shape that makes it really easy to turn and find, your fingers aren't struggling to find a leg and to keep turning it all the way). As it touched the floor, I needed to exert slightly more effort to get it to where it wouldn't go any further, but that's normal. No more rocking around! All in all, this is a great value for the price, fantastic quality, and super practical. I'll be working from home due to the pandemic until January at the earliest, and needed this to keep my office supplies and such organized. It makes me feel more calm knowing my office supplies have a home and don't need to be in various plastic containers making it a scavenger hunt anytime I need to find something I don't keep on top of my desk. It turns out the "sturdy reinforcement piece" I mentioned earlier in the bottom part of the styrofoam is actually a box that contains wheels! Two have locking mechanisms and two do not (13th photo). I almost threw them away but heard something in the packaging and checked it out. Glad I did! Installing the wheels is a two person job unless you can lift this yourself with ease. Definitely recommend laying it on a rug or soft surface to avoid potentially scratching the cabinet. The wheels are optional, as you can see I put it in place before knowing they were included. I ordered this on September 6th, 2020 and it arrived on September 15th, 2020 via FedEx Ground. Very happy customer!

Sleek, sturdy file cabinet with excellent customer service!
I ordered the white and wood version to match a white steel and bamboo ergonomic desk that I purchased for my home office. This file cabinet did not disappoint! It's made almost entirely of thick metal, which makes it feel like a true, hefty, industrial piece of furniture. The drawers glide perfectly. The cabinet ships with leveling feet attached, which you can unscrew in a minute to attach wheels, instead--and the wheels work great. I originally felt silly spending this much money on a file cabinet for home use, but once it arrived, I really did feel like it was worth the cost. This isn't a flimsy thing you'd get at Office Max; it really is a well-built, well-designed item for commercial use. It looks just as modern in the photos, and I have no regrets! The locking mechanism worked well enough when I tried it, but since I'm using this file cabinet in my home, I didn't really need the lock and didn't want to risk losing the keys. Fortunately, the lock is easy enough to disable; I just removed the plastic pieces mounted to each drawer with a standard Phillips-head screwdriver. The file cabinet arrived packaged extremely well, completely surrounded in styrofoam. Between the thickness of the metal and the thickness of the styrofoam, I can't imagine this thing getting broken in transit. Even if it did, though, I wouldn't worry. I had to contact customer support for a small issue with my order, and they responded and resolved it in under an hour. They were so prompt and pleasant to interact with that I'll definitely consider them for office furniture in the future! 10/10 would recommend.

Built like a tank
Iโm going to address some of the concerns I had after reading reviews before making a purchase. The item is solid steel with a good coating. The locking mechanism on the top drawer took about 60 seconds of inspecting inside the drawer to see how it works - it locks consistently and fine for me after taking a minute to figure it out. The bottom two drawers move freely whether the top drawer is open or closed, locked or unlocked. The top drawer moves freely as well when unlocked. The cabinet itself is a thick piece of bent steel that is welded onto a bottom panel to create the housing. There are no defects in the coating, paint, mechanisms, etc. it came pre assembled with two keys and feet installed. It had four sets of wheels, two that lock to prevent it from rolling around and two that are free. The feet were easy to unscrew by hand and the wheels were equally easy to install by hand. The top two drawers have liners that fit the pencil case shelf in increments so it can be placed wherever youโd like. Overall everything is as I would expect for a cabinet at this price. It looks good and has no defects I can find. Shipping was prompt, label created on a Sunday order. I can find no reason not to recommend this to anyone interested in a very sturdy, good looking filing cabinet. I suspect it will last decades if not my entire life.

Nice Design; Well Constructed; Excellent Customer Service - Good Value
I purchased two identical Stockpile 3-Drawer Mobile File Cabinets, Commercial-Grade, Pre-Assembled (Light Grey Faceplate). Note that while most cabinets like this weigh 2o to 50 pounds, the LauraDavidson Stockpile cabinest weigh 70 pounds. So in terms of the solid construction, that tells you a lot right off the bat: thicker, heavier metal for the top, bottom sides and rear of the cabinet. Anyway, one cabinet arrived ahead of schedule and I groaned they must have forgotten the second one. Nope. Next day the other one arrived. Excellent packing, not a scratch nor dent, etc. of any kind. The cardboard box is so up-graded I recommend you use serious shears rather than an exacto knife (or certain normal scissors) to cut the cardboard (which is a credit to the company for not shipping in cheap cardboard boxes. One of file cabinets was missing the very handy pencil tray, so I groaned again, thinking of the call I'd have to make, the inevitable voice mail with 9 menu options and everyone away from their desks anyway. Nope! The cabinets came with a nice note that if there was any issue with the order to call them at a toll free number "and we'll fix it immediately." So I did and was surprised that a gentleman answered, welcoming and friendly and immediately ready to help me. Wow. He explained that sometimes the pencil trays get dislodged in shipment and told me where look. I had carefully inspected both cabinets on receipt but the tray was way behind the lowest (file folder) drawer, stuck vertically against the rear plate of the cabinet. I simply unlocked the ball bearing sliding rails supporting the drawer, pulled it out just enough to be able to reach over the top of it and way back to the pencil tray, retrieved the tray and pushed the drawer back in so the rails went back into proper place. Tip: If you can manage to do it, try ad keep the drawer on the rails -- just pull it out enough to reach way back in there -- and don't pull it off the rails. It will save you a lot of time by not having to reinstall the drawer on the rails. Bottom line: Very fine product. Excellent customer service -- and I say that not so much because they solved my particular problem, for it wasn't a "rocket science" problem. I say it because they are clearly CUSTOMER-CENTRIC and are set up to provide good responsive service in a case of any problem. On this latter basis alone, I don't know what else LauraDavidson sells, but if I run across one of their products in a category I'm trying to buy, I sure will consider them first. 5 Stars!

Exceptional Quality
A classy dame who's got bones of steel. I wanted a nice 3 drawer cabinet for my home office for nearly two years, but also wanted to wait until I could afford something that would hold up for the rest of my life. I also wanted a cabinet which wasn't too tall, since I like a lower desk height while sitting. This ticks all my boxes. The drawers feel great to open and close. The motion is smooth, though not necessarily fast or light, since this thing is built like a TANK. The drawers came with an organizer AND a divider, both of which have been incredibly useful for my top drawer (though they each can go in either small drawer). The cabinet is a bit wider than the required width to fit files into it, which I LOVE. Other more narrow cabinets can be a pain to get files in and out of because they're only *just* wide enough for them to fit in and out, forcing you to insert them at a perfect 90 degree angle. With this drawer there is plenty of extra room on the sides to insert the files from an angle. It's something I didn't realize was important to me until comparing it to a cheaper cabinet I was gifted recently. One thing to note are is that you can only open one drawer at a time. If I have the bottom drawer open, I physically CANNOT open the top drawer. It is not a matter of, "If I open two drawers, it will be too front-heavy and tip over." They managed to create a mechanism which effectively locks the other drawers when one is open. Just something I found interesting. Another random thing that wasn't immediately clear to me from the product description is that they key will lock all drawers, not just the top. Speaking of the keys, they can fold up into a pretty small form factor and fit nicely on a keychain. It's a small detail, but I think some people would really appreciate it.

Well made and stylish!
This is extremely well built and the drawers open and close smoothly. I love the color I chose. I have had no difficulty with locking and unlocking the drawers. The tray was lodged in the back of the drawers due to shipping. Iโd love the company to consider taping it in the top drawer so it doesnโt slide during shipping. However, I used a set of grilling tongs to grab the tray out since my hand could not reach. This worked well! Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase!

Good but expensive, heavy, and annoying lock mechanic
I do like these. I bought two. But they are not without issues. It's important to note in advance that I am a small woman with no muscles for this review. When the first one arrived, the lock was stuck. I couldn't open ANY of the drawers. I contacted support and their response was 'It's jammed. Pick it up and drop it a few times. Don't worry, you won't break it." THESE ARE INSANELY HEAVY. Why is it so heavy?! Thankfully it has wheels, otherwise I'd absolutely hate this thing when moving time inevitably rolls around. The support guy was right, though. I did as instructed (with a lot of struggling to lift this ton of a metal beast). No dents or damage, the lock came loose and it worked fine from then on. So these are certainly durable. Then - on both that I purchased - The little pencil tray in the top shelf got stuck behind the drawers. I spent a good twenty minutes struggling on EACH to get them out because I saw no easy way to remove the drawers and the space was too narrow for my (small) hands. With some persistence and cursing, I did eventually get them free. I knew about the annoying lock mechanic that only allows you to open 1 drawer at a time from the other reviews. I didn't think that would be a big deal. Boy, was I wrong. I had no idea how often out of pure habit I would try to open multiple drawers at once. Why is this even a thing? After getting past all that, my complaints are essentially the lock mechanic is dumb, the thing is way too heavy, and $200 is really expensive. If you need something to take a beating, this thing is probably a great value, but since when does a file cabinet need to take abuse? For typical office use, it's overkill. But at the same time to be fair, this product will probably last a lifetime and I imagine probably survive an entire house burning down. Minus the plastic wheels. And then you'll have to pick it up.

Would Buy Again
I love the quality of these. The drawers slide so nicely, and every part of the cabinet feels well thought out. And they are pretty.
