desertcart.com: The Words We Keep: 9781984848895: Stewart, Erin: Books Review: Received in perfect shape - My daughter needed this book for a college class. She says it’s a good book and it came fast in the mail Review: Favorite book ever. I’ve read a lot of books. - This book was so well written! I feel like readers really get a sense of the characters so their actions are not sudden or surprising. Erin Stewart paints such a realistic story of chronic perfectionism and self loathing. The pace is amazing and steadily builds to the climax and does it to where it is surprising and emotional but not unbelievable/unrealistic. SUCH A GOOD BOOK!

Brilliant and beautiful novel for young adults
This book was an absolute joy to read. As a writer of young adult fiction myself, I felt like this book was a master class in how to write a young adult novel. The characters were so real. So likable. So beautifully developed. The themes were expertly woven throughout. The plot was character-driven fresh, and empowering as the teens used poetry to tell hard truths about their experiences. Loved it!

Need an Adult Version
We all know half of YA readers are in their 30s. What made this book great was the internal dialogue of the main character. Gives me chills with how well the thought spirals are capture. Finished in a day. Need the author to write a book through an adults perspective with that same thought spiral.

Cry for help
Gave this away since someone else needed advice for teens in trauma situations.

I absolutely loved The Words We Keep. From the very first page, it felt real in a way that hit hard. The story doesn’t hide how complicated and painful mental health struggles can be, and that honesty made it really stand out to me. The way anxiety, panic attacks, and self-harm are shown is incredibly relatable. Lily’s constant pressure to be perfect and her worry about holding everything together for her family felt so familiar. I didn’t go through exactly what she did, but a lot of her thoughts and feelings made sense to me in a very real way. I also loved Micah. His kindness, his past, and the way he tries to understand Lily made him such an easy character to care about. Their relationship grows slowly and naturally - through shared experiences, poetry, and being honest with each other. It never felt rushed or forced. It just felt real. What I appreciated most is how the book balances heavy moments with hope. Lily struggles, she has setbacks, and she tries again. It shows that healing isn’t simple, and it isn’t quick, but it is possible with the right support. That mix of pain and hope made the story feel genuine. In the end, the book left me feeling understood and really moved. It’s one of those books that stays with you, and I’m genuinely glad I read it.

This book was a great read, and I believe that many other people that I know would like it. It is a sad book, with many subjects that people may find triggering. In the end, I would suggest to other people.

I really liked the book. At first I was a bit unsure about the storyline since it’s pretty intense. But it was perfectly executed. The book shows how important it is to talk about mental health and that you are not alone even tho it can feel like it. I liked all of the characters since they weren’t perfect but well written. But you shouldn’t read it if you are struggling with intense mental health topics.
