Couldn’t get enough
Well well done Cloris!!! Lars and Bess are so proud of you! Seriously, a delight to read and learn of this actress’ remarkable life and career. I did not want the book to end, I could listen to Cloris go on and on for several more chapters. Congratulations on such a lasting run in the business.

Just like sitting over a cup of coffee with Cloris
Cloris is approachable, eccentric, and appealing. The book follows her thought patterns and takes readers from memory to memory, in different places at different times, throughout her life. But, if you love Cloris, you will want to know all about her, no matter how she tells the story. She is very funny in places, never mean spirited, always descriptive, and sometimes a little shocking. Most likely readers will wonder how she was able to rise above some of the relationships involving her husband. But, whatever she tells the story about, it is always in a matter-of-fact manner, and you know it's the truth as she knows it.She has had a fantastic life, having done and achieved things many only dream of doing, and having met people many only know from the newspaper or tv.Through it all she has remained the scatter-brained, funny, lovable, charming, talented, and irrepressible Cloris. It is a good book about a good woman -- an extraordinary, good woman.

Betty
I was so disappointed to find out she did not believe in an afterlife! So sad!! That she believes that this life is all there is! 😢😢 She has had an interesting life but I pray she finds the Lord and realizes that this life is only the beginning for Christians!

If you liked Cloris' independent personality and her work you should like the book.
I was fortunate to have met Cloris and discover her down to earth, flamboyant personality when 'off the job'. What a delightful and extremely talented person! Her story as she tells it is sometimes disorganized but absolutely entertaining and descriptive of her long and successful career and association with so many stars.

A Smooth Ride
I gave it a 5 star rating because it was open, honest a smooth ride to the end. She didn't go overboard on details, but shared enough to get an idea of her life. I finished it in a few hours and read right thru it. It was enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone who's a Cloris Leachman fan.

Friendly and evocative narrative voice cannot compensate for meandering style.
I selected this book, because the actress' work has always impressed me, and because -- after DWTS -- we all know she's saucy! What impressed me early on is that the voice of the book sounded like Ms. Leachman. I could imagine sitting down over lunch and having her tell me these stories. The downside of this is that, like spoken conversation, the stories jump back and forth and meander. She stated early on that this was deliberate and, again, in moderation it added to the read. This was not kept in moderation though! The side stories and continual zips back and forth across decades lost me, leaving me often confused about where we were on the time line. I found it difficult to get a feel for her life, because the context of her stories shifted too often.Ms. Leachman is awfully impressed with Ms. Leachman, not that I blame her. There are few stories here where she shows herself in a less than stellar light. About the worst she copped to was an inability to be punctual, and that was written off as artistic temperament. Most of the book had the rich and famous lining up to tell her how wonderful she is, and their children begging her to adopt them. Glowing reviews are reprinted, stinging ones are forgotten. The problem is that to understand a life, you need to see adversity, too. There are mentions of traumas, but never any exploration. A casual read would give the impression that she was born talented, got hired without any effort, kept getting hired, and won awards and acclaim, while spending her nights dining with Marlon Brando, and her days being a wonderful mom. The only way this is feasible is through cloning. There are events I understand her glossing over, like the death of a child, but I still missed stories of when things weren't all champagne and hanging with the Kennedys. Her husband boffed Joan Collins, and possibly Jackie Kennedy, but she doesn't really delve into her feelings on this other than to say it caused an awkward conversation with Jackie -- where they avoided discussing it -- and that they split up for a while over the Joan Collins thing. This is combined with glowing stories of her then-husband and tales of what a wonderful family life they had. It feels like something is missing. This was, faults aside, an interesting enough read that I got through it fast. After just reading the Melissa Gilbert book combined with this, I've come to the conclusion that people in show business are serial cheats and that Valerie Harper is either the bride of Satan of one heck of a gal pal.I don't regret this purchase for Kindle, although I would have had remorse at full hardcover price. For non-Kindle owners, unless you're an uber-fan, I'd wait for a paperback edition or put it on my library list. This was a worthy read for me, with loads of interesting stories, but it's not at the top of my autobiography lists.I wish Ms. Leachman the best of health and more saucy tales to tell!

I new she was great
What an interesting life Ms Leachman has had. I truly admired all the characters she has played in. Even dancing with the Stars, she was still herself. This book says a lot about the person she is and how lucky her children were. Plus grandkids and great-grandkids. It is a really terrible loss for the Arts, as I believe this wonderfully kind woman just loved her job so much, but she knew what her priorities are or were in the case. RIP Ms Cloris Leachman... the best scene in a movie...Spanglish just the little touches she emulates on this film just truly who I would imagine Ms Cloris to be..." Tea says to Cloris in Spanglish", "Mom it's not even 12:00 PM for a glass of wine...she stops looks at the clock, and it struck 12:00 PM...she looked a Tia and said it is now!!!"That's how I will always remember her.

I enjoyed this book generally
I enjoyed this book generally. My only problem with it was that certain portions were confusing as to just when things were taking place. She jumped around quite a bit, so I wasn't sure if something happened early in her marriage, or if it was during one of their separations. Otherwise, it was an interesting read with some funny moments here & there, & certainly some tragedy as well. I learned more about her husband, George, & her absolute love for him long after they divorced, & admired how they handled things. They adored each other. George helped write this book, so that tells you a lot. Stories about Marlon Brando, the Eddie/Debby split, the Kennedy's & some other Hollywood stars are sprinkled throughout the book. Overall, a good read, if a little confusing at times.
