Q: where can i buy the extra shelves?

The manufacturer sells them for 40.00 each. You can go to lowes or Home Depot, buy the shelf spoons for a few bucks and get the shelving for 10.00 a board. They'll even cut it to size for free.

Q: Why does the Java one cost more? Why is it missing shelves at that price?

First of all, I have put together a lot of furniture in the lat 45 years. This is by far the most difficult. I don't know why it costs more, but if you buy it, spend the money to have someone else put it together.

Q: Is this amoire painted or stained?

This and all other Palace Imports products are stained.
