It is a nice, non-glossy (matte) white
Being "artists' tape," this tape should be gentle on the media that the person works on, but it is not. Boy is it not.I do photography so I bought this tape because I need a tape for window mounting that can be peeled off without tearing the photograph or the mat (a bonus if the tape can be reused). After reading the "most useful" reviews, this tape seemed to be it. It is a nice, non-glossy (matte) white, so presentation-wise it looks great, and the 3/4 size is just right for most purposes, but once you apply the tape your paper/photo/print, there's no going back; if you try to remove the tape, it will either rip your work or leave a layer of sticky residue. It doesn't matter if you don't press it down hard, this stuff sticks as soon as it touches any sort of paper surface (even gloss-coated paper). I always use small pieces of tape to prevent messing up my prints, but even the small pieces are difficult to remove without damage or residue. I've tried taking off some of the adhesive's strength by touching the adhesive side (low-tech solution but you know you've all done this) but that doesn't help much either.People in the supposed "most useful" comments say that this tape doesn't tear things when you try to peel it off, but I think those reviews got high "useful" vs "not useful" ratios because they said good things and that's what people wanted to hear. Now that I've gone back to read the other two star ratings I wish they had been more prominent because what they say is exactly what I experienced with this product.I will be going back to using blue painters' tape because it has never ripped my work and rarely leaves residue and will just hope my photography professors don't look inside the mats or notice the blue hinge sticking out between them.

Good tape
I use this tape for artwork. This tape works pretty well BUT you have to use it in a specific way or you will peel and tear up paper. I NEVER use one long piece across the edge of a paper but split it into two with the overlap in the middle so when I lift the tape from the middle and peel towards the corner hardly any paper lifts with it. If you peel from the corner you will get a lot of ripping. Can also stick it to clothes a couple times before apply to artwork.Used this for a lot of different media’s including acrylic paint, charcoal, pencil, wash mediums and pen and ink. This roll will last me a while

tears the paper
It's alright tape but if you aren't careful it will tear your paper which is a damn shame cause thats the last thing i want to happen to my art after i finish my painting :/I'll continue to use it and be more careful in the future but i won't be buying again and hopefully by the time my roll is done i'll have found a better alternative

Only tape I use for paintings.
I use this tape exclusively for my work. It can tear your paper if you do not have a delicate hand, but unlike blue or regular masking tape, when used carefully you get a clear crisp line on painting. There is no strange peeling that can occur with masking tape, and it is repositionable to a point. Also great to tape a sketch on a wall. I very rarely have an issue with this tape ripping my paper, but then I use printmaking paper (BFK or Stonehenge) exclusively for my work. Can see an issue arising with watercolor paper. All in all, I never use masking paper for my painting. Got use to this tape while in art school and won't be looking back.

Great Tape
I paint with watercolor and most papers have to be taped down to avoid too much buckling of the paper. I had used regular painters tape with would tear some papers. I bought painters tape from Micheal's that was worst than painters tape but was about the same price as the Pro-Art Artist tape. I had to take all the other tapes of my paintings (in progress) and replace them with Pro Art. Works like a charm.

Acid free, but still durable and very good at adhering.
I picked up a roll like this because another roll I had when I was a student, remembering how super useful and versatile it was. I initially decided to buy it to use as violin tape for the fingerboard, but still have concerns about using it as the good adhesive might bond too well with the wood after repeated pressing (and the adhesive is good to begin with). I think this would be great for any project you need acid free tape to stay mounted to. Again, the adhesive is pretty good on it--you need to be careful with removal because it could rip paper and other materials if used too carelessly or excessively.Seems to make a nice acid-free substitute for masking tape.

I feel like the tape cannot be reused
I use it all the time for my drafting designs for clients, however, I feel like the tape cannot be reused, once I use for a sheet of paper it just does not stick very well on the second piece of paper and/or the ends will curl up making it hard to move the t-bar up and down over it. However, it does stick well the first time you use it, sometime too well because it has been known to rip my paper.

Securely holds, gentle on watercolor paper
Great tape! Holds my watercolor paper down securely to a backing board and doesn't tear the paper when removing. I use this tape every time I paint.

works for me
White edging tape saves a lot of time painting edges. Easy to apply and looks professional. A boon for busy artists.

Great tape
I switched from green to white tape when using it to secure my paper down when I pastel! Why? Because white does not interfere with your eyes when choosing colours in which to paint with. This tape also comes off well without damaging your painting if you remove it carefully.

Not sure about this
Used this on 90lb paper (ie artist sketch book multi media...not a heavy water colour paper). Wanted to have clean edge to water colour within sketchbook. Did not peel off cleanly.Regular masking tape worked better for me.Perhaps not purpose of this tape though?

Superb Tape for mounting artwork
This is a highly effective, and not too tacky artist's tape which I just started using (after discovering it!) Much better for the purpose of mounting artwork-in-progress and easier to remove afterwards than masking tape.
