Not enough words to describe it...
I own two Skunk Anansie albums. This, and their last one, Post Orgasmic Chill. I only heard of this band shortly after they had already broken up in 2001. However, I only started getting into them a few months ago. For some odd reason, they never had a decent-sized fanbase in the US, and that is a shame, considering all the sh*tty Limp Bizkit cds that sell so much these days. Skunk is, er, was a band with real talent. They molded a unique sound, blending psychedelic rock with the occasional heavy metal, and even some pop-rock to complete the mix. But unlike the recent slump of pop-rock chart-toppers (*cough* Nickelback), Skunk blended these elements perfectly, and made it seem so easy. Out of the two albums I do own, I think POC is just slightly better, only because some of the songs on Stoosh are just a wee bit repetitive, but I also think that this record does a better job of capturing emotions than Post does. Whereas Post has way too many mood swings, Stoosh on the other hand keeps it under control. Almost every song on here is great, with the exception of "Yes It's F*cking Political". It starts off promising, with some nice guitar work that sounds not unlike Rage Against the Machine, but Skin tries to get experimental with her voice and it doesn't sound good at all, if you ask me.Every other song, however, is good in its own right, with "Hedonism" possibly being the strongest. That song is beautiful, from the somewhat sad lyrics, to the soulful chorus. "Milk Is My Sugar" is a nice, Black Sabbath-like opener that sets a pace for the album. "All I Want" is a nice mid-tempo song, and "Twisted (Everyday Hurts)" offers a great drum beat with some slightly distorted bass. But, my favorite song just might be "We Love Your Apathy". That song just bathes in utter brilliance; it's a catchy, upbeat tune that really left an impression since the first time I listened to it.So, if you, like me, are tired of talentless crap like Puddle of Mudd and Linkin Park, and yet not satisfied with death metal, then SA is the perfect band for you. Note that this is not an easy band to get a hold of, and that this album does indeed contain a Parental Advisory label, so if cussing doesn't appeal to you then don't buy it. But if you plan on getting into this band, Stoosh is an excellent place to start.

Fits and starts of excellence -- overall an OK effort
I first heard SA while living in the Netherlands in 1997. The boy-band era had hit hard there and i was dying for something that ROCKED.Well, this was something that came out of nowhere with an hard rock wallop. "Everyday Hurts" completely rocks. It's got a great powerful beat and Skin (that's the singer) 's voice alternates between a low growl and a beautiful soprano over this song about angrily trying to 'get over him/her'.While this is a great tune, there are some real stinkers, like "Yes it's f'n political." This is absolute garbage. After the melodic angst of Everyday Hurts i was a little put off.But then you hear songs like Brazen or Hedonism and you're completely blown away by the band again. It seems to me that a more forceful editor could have helped refine this record into a hard rock OK, Computer. 'twasn't meant to be. Often new bands find themselves recording all they have in case they don't get another shot, so maybe they didn't have the luxury of letting a few tracks drop.Anyway, if you could buy it for a deal I'd say pick it up.

Surprised myself with this one!
I first heard Skin's voice on a collaboration with Tony Iommi, and thought "Wow, she's the only girl who can hang with the Black Sabbath crowd...instant admiration." Plus she had great range and feeling on that album! I would have expected someone very Ozzy-esque like Drain or something. Anyway, I digress. So, I sought out an album of Skunk Anansie, whom Skin is the lead singer for, and listened to some clips and gave it a try. It's raw, refined, harsh, smooth, angry, sensual...and through it all it's passionate! I admit, I had to listen to it a couple times before it really hit the groove, but hit it, it did! I am SO impressed! This was a hidden gem....one I'm very glad I found! Her music, to me, is reminiscent of Dalbello...at least at times. Other times it reminds me of olllllld Heart. Right on...

just because it feels good
this was actually the last skunk anansie album i bought. it took me a long time to get to actually listen to it, but when i did, i fell in love with the band all over again, as i did with their other two albums. skin, the lead singer, explores her weaknesses as i don't think she allowed herself to do on the paranoid and sunburnt album. this album, too, reflects the perfect mix of the delicacy and pain of skin's voice and her absolute warrior ways, as well as musically blending the strings sweetly with the hard guitar. my favorite song is "twisted," which enters with a juicy, thriving bass line. also, there is a "hidden" remix of one of the songs from the paranoid and sunburnt album that is awesome and not to be missed. skunk anansie is truly my favorite band, and this is my favorite album of theirs. i guess that would make it my favorite album. perhaps.

Hedonism!
Great voice, great songs, great lyrics, rebellious sounds of love and hate.Skunk screams out her best in eleven songs. You can find dramatic ballads and heavyrock songs on this album. The best onesare (of course!) "Hedonism" (single) which isan impressing ballad with bisexual contents,"Brazen (Weep)" (single), "Twisted (Everyday hurts)","Infidelity (only you)" and "Glorious pop song".It's an album full of rebellion, fight forminorities, aggression and feelings. Buy it!

11 Perfect Tracks
The whole of the album Stoosh is perfect from start to finish. Skin has one of the best voices in the business at the moment. The labum contains hits like Hedonisim, Brazen, All I Want and Twisted and loads of other top tunes. Out of all of the skunk anasie albums (Post Orgasmic Chill and Sunburnt and Paranoid) i think that this is the best and i hope that the new album willbe more like this. The other albums are all worth buying none the less as they also are great from start to finish

An interesting album
This is a good rock/hard rock album written by a band who have a particular point of view. There are some songs that are stronger than others (Hendonism, and Twisted did particularly well), but all songs have a view on life you might not always agree with, but will make you think. So all in all I enjoyed it.
