COOZYER Defrosting Tray for Frozen Meat, Black, Aluminum, Natural Thawing Plate, Faster and Safer Way to Defrost Food

I am glad I didn't give mine away or throw it out. I forgot about it and forgot what it was even for!I was reading about defrosting trays and it reminded me that I could use mine. It does help items defrost faster. Even some pita bread I had in a bag in the freezer defrosted more quickly.After I realized how it works, I have put one or two frozen hamburger patties on the tray about 15 minutes before I cook them in the skillet. If I left them sitting on the counter, I'm sure the defrosting would take a lot longer.

Once you know how it works, you'll like it. I thought I would try it to defrost ground beef and it was faster, but it wasn't much faster than some frozen ground beef I set on the counter. I was curious about what was wrong so I decided to test it with an ice cube. The ice cube melted completely before my eyes in less than 3 minutes!. My test ice cube was barely frosted over in the same amount of time.I noticed the metal tray was very cold. SO the cold is pulled from what you are defrosting to the tray and the tray dissipates the cold. The portion of ground beef I was trying to defrost, covered almost the entire tray and left very little area to dissipate the cold except underneath the tray. I'm not a scientist but it makes sense you need some surface area for the cold to go to. The more surface area exposed, the quicker it will defrost. If you put the tray on a cookie rack It seems to speed things up because the air is circulating.So small steaks, burgers, chicken, and such work fine and defrost fast. If I covered the entire surface it works better than just sitting on a plate, but you will need to plan it taking about the same amount of time.

I am not sure I am even noticing a difference between this and just sitting meat out to thaw. I don't really use it that much because of it.

Got as a gift. Was told that it doesn't really work to good.

Thawing trays are basically a (mostly) dry equivalent to running cool water over frozen items. It does make thawing relatively faster, but the more mass to be thawed, the less noticeable the impact. With that in mind, this cooling tray does a good job transferring ambient warmth (becoming quite cooled itself in the process). It's great for thawing shrimp, made ahead stews, and juice cans. The tray should be placed on a rimmed pan or cutting board to catch any liquid that drips from the grooves as the frost thaws though.

Thaws meat super quick

Have only used one time but worked ok. Not quite as quick as stated but normal. Usually if defrosting meats I will put it (whatever it is) on a stainless steel sheet and put another on top and that seems to work. Will keep using it.

I put a pork chop on this and one on a glass plate and left them in the kitchen sink. Two hours later they were both at the same level of defrost. This works no faster than any other container. It’s a nice metal plate that’s all.
