EheimSubstrat Pro Bio-Filter Medium, 1 L filter volume, 720 g

1 litre was the perfect amount for a 15ltr baby biorb. I have a new tank & chose to use this substrait instead of the one that comes with the tank, so that my fish & shrimp won't get stuck in it, and these round balls are much smoother than the biorb media. It's solved so many problems that the biorbs have. I poured this in stuck in the decorations & water, added the tapsafe, waited 24 hours, then added a whole 250ml bottle of Tetra SafeStart, and added some live plants & 2 guppies. This media gives plenty of surface area for all that good bacteria to live in, and is compact enough that the shrimp I will get in a month won't get sucked into my filter. Looks a lovely colour in the tank & is much nicer to look at than the ugly biorb media. The 1 liter pack comes just to the top of the rim for the plastic filter in the middle of the tank. Really pleased & worth the money.UPDATE:I have since upgrade to a 30L biorb cube, the 1 litre fills the base perfectly at about an inch ish high, but could could easily double that if you wanted to. It looks amazing in the white tank, and still works well. It traps so much dirt that the filter sponge is redundant, so I just vacuum the gravel, and I ditched the sponge in the filter cartridge & filled the whole thing with loosely packed fine filter floss. Between that & using Seachem Prime for water changes, my water has been crystal clear. My blue shrimps & tiny kuhli loaches have no trouble with this substrate. It's light weight enough that the kuhlis bury themselves in it still, but not so light weight that it all gets stuck in your gravel vacuum. It jumbles around in the bottom of the vacuum to release the dirt under them easily but doesn't get sucked all the way up - although mine is a small vacuum for small fish tanks.

After losing a poor platy that got trapped in the irregular and rough Biorb media, I was on the search for a substitute.This is perfect: ceramic media that works as a biological filter, round, small enough so it leaves no large gaps while being large enough to not clog the filter, allowing the flow of water throught it, and aesthetically pleasant.One 1 litre pack covers the bottom of a baby biorb (15 litres tank) perfectly right up to the edge of the filter. It's easy to bury the original biorb decorations so the round weight isn't visible and looks really good in the tank.Most importantly there are no gaps, or any rough edges that could potentially trap or injure any of the tank inhabitants.Biorb should really consider switching their media to something like this. For the price of the aquariums you would expect as standard decent, safe media that makes the aquarium look good, as well as performing the role of biological filtration. Did I say it is do easy to clean with a siphon?!Note: the media requires the tank to be cycled with added bacteria to get the biological filtration started correctly.

This is a good enough price will do me for 3 months till need to buy new stuff.

Great filter media, a little pricey but worth it, the box should last a couple of years as I only have a 90 litre tank, works brilliantly and my tank is clear after cycling.

these work perfectly in my Ehiem filter, although they will work in any filter im sure of even in a bag in the tank. They are there to essentially be the home for bacteria you need in your tank and as my fish are healthy i assume that they do the job! very dust at first but they wash in the sink in seconds. Never had to touch them since they went into my filter.

Brought it to use in my biorb to replace the original media...ideal replacement much eadier to keep clean

The media could not be loaded.  Substrat à remplacer tous les 6 mois sauf si l'entretien est fait régulièrement. Ca dure beaucoup plus longtps.
