Twisty Thriller You Wonβt Want to Put Down!
The Housemaid is a fast-paced psychological thriller that kept me hooked from start to finish. Millie, the protagonist, is a complex character with a troubled past, and her journey into the Winchester family's mansion is filled with suspense and unexpected twists.McFadden's writing is sharp and engaging, making it a quick read thatβs hard to put down. While some plot points may seem predictable to seasoned thriller readers, the execution and pacing make for an enjoyable experience. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers with strong characters and suspenseful twists, The Housemaid is a must-read.

Easy read and easy storyline
Admittedly, the start of this book confused me, and I was suspicious of everyone initially, especially the very nice husband. It was a good, easy read, and the twists and turns kept you entertained throughout. The ending reminded me of the women related to Aqua Tofana (Google it). The later part of the book had my eyes rolling as the maids reason for being in jail is revealed and why she was hired etc.Overall pretty good.

Engaging and Thrilling!
This is one of my favourite stories by Freida McFadden. The main character, Millie, is an interesting individual and initially, you wonder what she did to be in prison for 10 years. This becomes clear later in the story. However, even though she has been in prison, you are routing for her throughout. The other characters, such as Nina and Andy also have intriguing personalities and I was keen to find out what would happen next in the story. There are some great twists, but not so many that it feels too unbelievable, and the tension really builds up well throughout the story with an engaging plot. Some parts were upsetting and some shocking; it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout!

Below expectations
I heard a lot about this book and so my expectations were high. However, for me personally, I felt the plot was unbelievable and the writing was average. Yes it contains a lot of twists and itβs easy reading. However, it reminded me a lot about how I felt when I read Gone Girl for those of you who know what I mean.

The Ultimate Page Turner
I only added this book to my basket at the last minute as I was buying another book for holiday and this was to be a back up if the other one wasn't any good. Well I read the first chapter of this one first and for the next couple of days I was hooked it's a very addictive story full of twists and turns. Not normally the sort of book I normally go for but I'm glad to have expanded my reading horizons. I would highly recommend this and would read more books from same author.

Plot seems implausible but it kept me hooked
I can't remember what was the trigger to buy this book but it seems to review well (and has sold huge numbers). I think I may have confused it with The Maid but I liked the sound of this book so decided to give it a go. By the look of the cover it's going to be great.I'd not heard of the author but was interested in her combination of medical and psychological thriller writing as careers. I was also impressed with her long list of novels. This book has 328 pages split into 61 chapters and was first published in 2022.From the start it is clear that something awful has happened. We are then taken back a few months to find out what. There are plenty of secrets and some very weird events. The readers senses are heightened and there is a lot of suggestion. The narrative starts looking from Millie's perspective - she is very cautious of her environment although is not an innocent party which adds plenty of layers. The concept of the plot is tight with a small cast of characters making it an unchallenging book to read but there are enough twists to keep the attention all the way through.Gradually the story moves along, all the time keeping enough tension to make you think it is all going to go wrong at any moment. The prologue has introduced the idea of a body in the attic but there is a lot to be discovered before the book gets to that.Complexity is added and, whilst it all seems implausible, I did get hooked in and I loved the ending. It seemed unlikely that this book is going to be developed into a series but that is what has happened and I'm definitely going to get the next one.
