He's gonna come back!
Let's face it here this boxset is all about Total Recall, one of the top 10 best Sci Fi/action movies of all time. It's like watching a video game play out, ultra violence but in an Arnie kind of good way. This movie is the tour de force here and easily deserves the 5 stars on offer. So let's cut to the chase and look at the other 3 movies on offer.First we have Raw Deal. The movie takes a little time to really get going, but there is a tension in the film not seen in any other Arnie related movies since. The final 20 mins or so are par excellence with a sweet Rolling Stones 'Satisfaction' playing in the background as Arnie is shooting down the bad guys. In fact there are two mass murder sequences here to keep Arnie fans happy. It's clearly not Arnie's best outing, but Raw Deal just about has enough moments to keep fans happy, and it character builds quite well. One snag is that the main bad guy cannot act which does spoil the movie some what, still you can't have it all. A movie that in the Arnie genre could scrape to about 4 stars but if 3.5 were available this is what Raw Deal would get. Certainly a movie worth rewatching.Red Heat is a confused film. There are plenty of positives. The bad guys play out well and Arnie is in total character as the Russian. But thats the thing he never lets up, so he never lets the comedy in. And if you are paired with James Belushi you need a bit of comedy in your make up. Not too much of course but some. This ends up leaving the viewer slightly cold because for a cop movie to work on screen you need chemistry between the two, and sadly this does not show. Walter Hill is the director which is strange, as Hill is responsible for the excellent 48 HRS. Red Heat does have some good dialogue and scenes, the Moscow scenes are historically interesting. Best you can say is 3/5, but this movie could have been much better. Finally the box set does what all box sets do: Throws in a duff. Here we have Red Sonja. To be fair movies like this do not rock my boat, however this is not helped by most reviews of the movie saying how bad it is. So unfortunetly I come into this movie with bias views. All in all this boxset is probably worth getting, Total Recall is a classic and Raw Deal is worth having. I suppose it all depends what movies you already have and how big a fan you are of Arnie. They could of picked better films, but this is just about passable.

One Classic - Two Average!
I recently found out that my son's hadn't watched much in the way of '80s action films. I have long since traded in my old DVDs so I found the need to replace them all on bluray. This is where I bought this three movie Arnold Schwarzenegger collection. This three disc box-set contain three films. The first is the timeless classic Total Recall. The Paul Verhoeven directed film is in my opinion, one of the finest action movies out there and the main reason to purchase this collection. It features an endless amount of bloody violent action, cool sci-fi set pieces and so many one liners. The other two films in the collection are Red Heat and Raw Deal. They were made in the mid to late '80s and are some of Arnold Schwarzenegger's lesser films. With that said, they're still fun and have great moments for fans of the Austrian hunk.In terms of picture quality, I was actually impressed with how good these films look. Sure, they do have the usual '80s film visual qualities like a bit of softness and a lot of film grain. But all films look a lot sharper than any DVD copy I've ever seen. It's not ideal bluray quality but it's far from average or bad and that is something I'm sure people will be impressed with. The fact that they have also survived the usual DNR disasters that have plagued the likes of another genre classic Predator is somewhat of a miracle. For the sake of a tenner, you certainly get your monies worth here. Two films might not be his best but they're still enjoyable and Total Recall being a downright classic means you can't lose. Fans of the action genre should definitely add this Arnold Schwarzenegger collection to their shelves.
