Aesop's Fables

A really lovely book that arrived quickly and contains lots of good fables, some not so well known

The illustrations are so striking and beautiful that you might be tempted to buy the book just for them. The dark background of the pictures makes them look mysterious and a little scary too. The animals are beautifully stylised in bright colours. You can guess a lot of each story simply by looking at its illustration. The retelling of these fables is not as good as I expected from Michael Rosen and the text doesn't roll off the tongue easily when you read it aloud. That being said, the stories are well adapted for children. They remain short and simple and they use language familiar to them, with, for good measure, a few more difficult expressions. The best bit, you'ill find, is your child's version of the moral for these stories.

We purchased this as an add-on for my son's 6th Birthday and I can tell you without any doubt that this is an essential addition for every family! Classic tales, beautiful illustrations and a wonderfully bound book all add up to one thing: Quality time with your child/children! This captured my son's imagination from the get-go and after each story ending with "The moral of this story is..." we had a discussion about it and he had lots of questions too which is an obvious sign that he was actually listening to the story, as opposed to delaying bedtime ;-)On a serious note, a really fantastic book which every child must have read to them!!

Lovely book, given as a gift. The only disappointing thing was that it isn’t a complete collection of fables, and the one I was looking for was not included in the collection.

I loved this book as a child so I was keen to keep up the tradition with my daughter. She’s a little young to understand the stories but she loves the pictures. The morals and fables stand the test of time and I’m looking forward to reading them all again when she is older. I would really recommend this book.

Beautiful pictures and well presented. I bought this for teaching fables to Year 3. I really liked that the moral for each fable is clearly presented underneath the fable. I will probably pass it on to my daughter to enjoy with her as she grows up.

Great book and delivery thanks

A beautiful book. Bought for a seven year old who loves Greek mythology. The pictures are just beautiful and the text is accessible for a child learning to read. All the classic fables included.
