As a doll artist, I've created countless doll clothes and recently my 13 year old daughter has starting customising dolls herself. I thought this set would be good to help improve her sewing skills with creating easy to make mini clothes, but sadly it falls far from the mark. There's not a lot in the box. The mannequins are probably the best and most useful part. There's pins, a small amount of thread that doesn't match any of the fabric colours, sequin/gems and 6 small pieces of fabric. There's over complicated patterns and instructions that aren't overly helpful. The glitter fabric is a nightmare to pin or sew through, even for an adult. The rest of the fabric isn't great either. I can think of various fabrics that would've been a better choice, easier to sew and more child friendly. The patterns don't make actual clothes - you only sew a portion of the outfit - the rest requires pinning the clothes at the back of the mannequin! You might as well just drop fabric on each mannequin, pin it and call it done, but despite this, the patterns are overly complicated. There's lots of pieces that take ages to cut out and don't really do much - there's just no need for it. My 13 year old, who has sewing experience, found the set just too complicated, and she became frustrated quite quickly. It's aimed at years 8 and over, but honestly, I think most kids will struggle with this. I've decided to scrap most of the set and rebuild it instead with nice fabrics, thread and easy to make, real doll clothes patterns. I had high hopes for this initially, but I've been left disappointed.

In our house we found that you had to go into this toy with a strong vision in mind, it didn't really lend itself to ad-hoc play with the youngest, but the eldest had a great time. Being able to be more structured and intentional with the resources that were included, there was plenty of room for creative freedom but you really need to have an idea bout the basics of achieve to achieve certain shapes, and the concepts of the flat 'net' shapes and how they related to 3d shapes in particular.

Aimed at kids aged 8 years and up who enjoy crafts and sewing, this is a nice little set for a budding fashion designer.The description indicated it came with 3 mannequins but there were only 2 included with this set. There is a variety of fabrics, threads and sequins and everything needed to pin the designs to the mannequins until ready to sew it all together.The kit is quite basic but has enough about it to keep kids entertained for a few hours with relatively clear instructions. It is rewarding for the kids to have an outfit they made themselves to put on a Barbie sized doll giving a real sense of achievement.

I thought this would be ok for a budding fashion designer but it’s overly complicated to make anything using the fabrics and extras included.You only get 2 mannequins included, the description definitely says 3, so that’s a disappointment to start off with.It would be far too hard for an 8 year old to follow the instructions, I found it difficult myself and I have some experience.This would probably put kids off making clothes!For what you get it’s overpriced, scraps of cloth and a few sequins can be purchased very cheaply and the mannequins feel cheap.I’m not impressed, there are far better kits available for the price.Hope you found my review helpful

I had the pleasure of gifting this to my ten-year-old niece, who quickly became enamoured with it. The kit provided her with ample opportunities to express her creativity and explore her interest in fashion design. She would spend hours meticulously crafting unique and eye-catching outfits for the mannequins, and eventually, she expanded her designs to her dolls as well. The kit serves as an excellent introduction to sewing and helps cultivate an appreciation for the art of fashion. It has been a delight to witness her enthusiasm and progress. Five stars for inspiring young minds!
