Clear, Direct, Engaging, and Universal
The blurb on the inside cover of Admiral McRaven's fourth book hails it as "a short, inspirational guide offering advice and leadership lessons gathered over four decades as a Navy SEAL." True to its description, The Wisdom of the Bullfrog goes beyond, making it particularly captivating for those dedicated to enhancing their leadership skills. What sets it apart? McRaven skillfully condenses his 40-year journey into 18 chapters filled with anecdotal snapshots. Each chapter is punctuated by a memorable title, serving as a leadership rule, followed by a concise summary. These rules transcend conventional HBS wisdom, and the summaries form a valuable curriculum. Few individuals, possessing both McRaven's intellect and extensive experience, choose to share their insights publicly. The stories unveiled in the book portray a tenacious individual committed to conquering both physical and mental obstacles, demonstrating that wisdom is forged through the crucible of hard knocks, where failure becomes the most instructive teacher, and successes validate the pains of learning. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and wholeheartedly recommend it. The author's writing style is clear and direct, the content is engaging, and the lessons imparted are universally applicable. A solid five stars.

So simple and yet so foundational to ensure the right mix of key personal attributes for success.
As a fellow Navy (French navy) and avid martial artist since I was 5 years old, this book is perfect for anybody whom wants to gain / refresh their directional guidelines on how to lead but, most importantly act. Whether you call it your code of honor, bushido or anything in between, this book will definitely resonate with people having experienced massive life lessons on how to remain focused on the real self true-north while encountering successes and potholes along the way.Same as in martial arts, this book will remind you that the basic principles and foundations will never change .Admiral McRaven has packed a wealth of wisdom in 200 pages based on his “life PhD” gained through a vast cargo of experiences and memories…. Well done!

Succinct Stories with Purpose
Having served in the military, I appreciate and relate to many of the leadership lessons in the book. The format is easy to read and digest. I don't relate to some of the pre-chapter quotes, however. I dont have a favorite lesson per sè. Very intriguing.

Admiral McRaven has written this simple charter to build character!
The simple rules with some engaging examples, sharing not instructing, warm but not patronising, deep but not self righteous, that defines this book of fine, aged, distilled wisdom!I remain inspired by the life and times of Admiral McRaven.
