This is an easy way, for travelers going on an extended vacation for which driving is not an option, to weigh their check luggage BEFORE you leave the house to go to the airport. The magic number is 50 ...as in 50 pounds. You bust 50 pounds and you'll be penalized for overweight luggage; I've never done it, but I hear the penalty is substantial. This is a nifty device; compact, dirt simple to use and it will save your bacon (and wallet) from having to do that embarrassing public unpacking maneuver to lighten your luggage by shifting stuff to your carry-on ...providing you have room in your carry-on. As I mentioned in the title, this device gets you in the ballpark. There are no listed +/- accuracy specs. Maximum capacity for weight is 110lbs or 50kgs. So, if you weigh that new roll aboard and it ticks the scale at 49.7 pounds; you'd better lighten your load. Because as accurate as this device may be, it is the scale at the ticket counter setting the standard. How consistently accurate these Chinese-made luggage scales are is anyone's guess; this one was very close, reading slightly heavier (couple of tenths of a pound) than what we saw when checking the bag. But I would allow at least a pound ...maybe a little more ...of pad to be on the safe side. The scale will weigh in pounds and kilograms in increments of 0.1 pounds and 50 grams. Something totally unrelated to weight, this scale can be switched to measure the ambient temperature of the immediate location in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. And no, your bags don't get lighter the higher the temperature. Also don't forget to bring this scale with you. If, while doing time in Paradise, you go a little bonkers on souvies, trinkets and treasures, you can use the scale to see how you're doing, weight-wise, for the return trip back to reality. You can also use this to weigh many different things as long as you can hang them from the hook on the scale. And, if you just can't find that room thermometer, you can break out this little device and find out why you're sweating so much. We opted for the bright orange color with idea it would make it easier to find. Bon voyage.
