THE BEST ALBUMS THE TUBES EVER MADE ON CD IN A NICE SMALL CLAM SHELL BOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is a really nice 5 cd uk set that houses the cds in replica original lp artwork, wallet sleeves like mini lp sleeves that replicate the original lps BUT as someone else pointed out the live album wich was amazing back in 1977 is not replicated properly, outside of that the discs sound good enough for me as the only one i ever owned on cd is the first one wich was always there best next to the live album in my opinion, i have had the first lp as a japan import vinyl lp since something like 1980 for gods sake, i got turned on the the tubes via the first lp around 1978/79 when i was very young and i really had an ear back then for hard rock and the heavier bands as well as the punk and new wave outfits but there was just something extremely unique about the tubes, it cost like 16 bucks back in 1980 or so wich was a lot of money for a kid my age but i bought the japan lp import copy of the first album as i liked what was on it and loved the sleeve, i bought it in the import section at the old tss record world in there then amazing import section, anyway white punks on dope was amazing for that time and i was off to the races, the tubes did very well in the uk and did not seem to do so great here in the us back then but by the early 1980s they where making big headway here but i was not really into all that shes a beauty crap in 1982/83 and i honestly felt the last great record was the double live one. anyway for the price this was a great bargin for me to get the 5 best tubes records on cd in a clam shell box in this compact format as i have so many lps i have to be careful what i buy on vinyl becouse im out of room after almost 40 years of collecting, also the gem is you get the best tubes records in chronological order from 1975 to 79 and as stated here by someone else THAT WAS THERE BEST PEROID!!!!!!!!!!!!! this gets 4 stars becouse there is plenty of room on each disc for bonus tracks wich would have made this nicer but as a casual fan this works for me....

Best band on earth finally get a good box set.
The sound quality is great. The packaging is faithful apart from the back cover of “Remote Control “. The gatefold inside spread of the legendary WDYWFL is cleverly inserted in the middle of the very nice booklet which accompanies the very nice clam shell box. The A&M compilation album” TRASH” is spread throughout the discs as bonus tracks, which is a good idea. My favorite album “Now” sounds excellent, but really they all do. Do not hesitate to buy this set!!!

Great Albums But Sound Quality Does Not Sound Remastered
The 3 star rating is not about the music, it is about the packaging and mastering. The 5 CDs come in mini album sleeves that are made from thin cardboard. The live album does not open up like the original LP did. These 5 mini albums are packaged in a cardboard case that is good quality. The case is better quality than the "Original Album" Classics or Series box sets. It also comes with a booklet that gives a brief history of The Tubes during the time when these five albums were released. There are comments from the band's lead singer Fee Waybill. The sound quality is good, but does not sound remastered. Frequently there is an "ess" sound when lyrics are sung with the letter s.I expected more from this box set, especially for the price. At the time of this writing the cost is about $30. I already own all these CDs and purchased the box set for one of the albums expecting a remastered sound. Unfortunately this was not the case.Regarding the music, if you don't have these albums, these were the best that The Tubes put out and may be a good way to get these albums in your catalog. Just don't expect great packaging and exceptional sound.

5 of their best albums in one package
I really like all of the albums The Tubes recorded on A&M. They all sound amazing in this boxed set. Hopefully they will do the same with the albums they did on Capitol Records. Definitely one of my favorite bands so I would highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of great music. I would love to see The Tubes live because of how great they sound together on every live recording I've heard by them.

The Tubes World Tour
this box set had five of their first albums which I have on vinyl, but wanted the CD's. A great way to preview this group if you're not familiar with them. We saw them twice in concert and were blown away.

The White Punks are Back
Ah, The Tubes. Unique, special, crazy, beautiful, and sublime.Of course, they made it big after the discs in this set had been released, hence this is their total output with A&M. For me though, the more successful version were never the match of appears here. At this point The Tubes were joyful, a little mad, and just plain having a good time. This set is an opportunity to improve on the original The Tubes CD, which wasn't very good. It also has Now, which can be hard to find at a price you want to pay. With a small smattering of extra tracks, surely nothing can go wrong?Well, first and foremost, what do you really get? The box itself is well made, with a hinged top, and thick cardboard used. Hey, it's glossed too for good measure. The albums inside are not up to this standard though. Each album comes in a now familiar card envelope, common in those cheap 5-disc sets (that generally cost half of what this goes for). The covers in my set look washed out, and frankly are little more than adequate. The good news is, there's a 24 page booklet, with an informative article and lots of pictures.Sound wise, it's a mixed bag. The debut (DR7) is a little better than the earlier version, but nothing major. Young and Rich (DR 10) is good, but the bonus track is nothing to write home about, and adds nothing. Now (DR 11) is as good as any of the CD releases I've heard, and it's good to see it back in print. What Do You Want from Live (DR10) is of course, amazing. Remote Control (DR9) I've not yet played (it's not a favorite of mine). This set is credited as a Captain Oi presentation, although it comes under the Caroline badge. Mastering is credited to James Bragg.Okay, so with that out of the way, is it good value? Well, if you already have them on CD, in truth, no. None of the mastering here is going to change your mind, or even enhance your enjoyment any. These are middling CD masterings - they're not great, but they're not terrible either. I'm not sure we're ever going to get these albums in audiophile quality. On the other hand, how cool is it to have all the early Tubes albums in one box? They were just magic at this time, and deserve to be in everyone's rock collection. Recommended? Yes.

Awful remastering
I had to return these because the re-mastering was so bad on Remote Control and Young and Rich. These were the main event for me and were ruined by bad eq in the remaster. I didn’t even play the rest. Such a shame. I buy cds for the higher band width compared to mp3 but there’s no point if the eq has been messed up.

ESTUPENDO ESTUCHE
LOS MEJORES DISCOS DE ESTA BANDA SE REUNEN AQUI, A MUY BUEN PRECIO. CON PERSONALIDAD PROPIA, THE TUBES SON UN PRODUCTO DE SU TIEMPO, PERO SUPIERON EVOLUCIONAR. AL REVÉS DE MUCHAS OTRAS BANDAS PUNK Y ASIMILADAS, THE TUBES TIENEN UN GRAN SONIDO Y UN EXCELENTE DIRECTO...

Great price too
I've had these albums since their original vinyl release but only ever found their first album and What Do You Want From Live on CD. When I saw this box set was going to be released I jumped on it. Great price too! So nice to finally have all 5 of their A&M albums (their best, IMO) on CD.
