I have a gsd and it’s suitable for them. The holes are very big so you need to stuff it with something paper cloth etc) to keep treats in.

Does it open to pop treats in?

No it doesn't. It's a great ball as it doesn't go far and doesn't really bounce much but it squashes up and goes in your pocket if you pick the smaller one. Better than tennis balls as it's not so bad for their joints. We have the larger version as well and keep it in the garden.

Does this roll like a normal football? My pup loves football but punctures them quickly

It does roll about, but not as true as a football. The idea is to stuff it with rags (torn up old shirt etc) interspersed with treats. The dog then tugs the materials through the holes and finds the treats. Hope this helps.
