So far, i like this. Its about the same size as my old Hitachi impact, which is to say pretty compact for an 18v hammer drill. Its quite speedy and can handle a 1" forster bit in red oak pretty well. I have not used it extensively, so my opinion is not one formed from much personal experience, but it feels good in my hand. Additionally, I think its a good find since it comes with 2 batteries instead of only one. Did you know that the battery charging tone can be changed? Aha! Read your manual lol. What i don't like is that the rev. Fwd. Switch is located a bit too close to my trigger finger. I would prefere it up a little higher on the handle, but maybe its more an issue with my moderately meaty mits and less to do with design? The other thing that is actually a little concerning is that the brake/clutch with a grinding sound somehow when the trigger is released from full speed on high speed setting, if that makes sense. This could be an issue with particular drill, or is it an issue with the product in general? I'd be open to any input on that part.

I've had a Makita black and white compact drill for over 20+ years. I am a locksmith and used it every day a lot. I put it to the test and it's still working fine. I purchased this drill because it was really compact, light, had a hammer drill feature and it was a Makita. I've had it now since October of 2022 and it is basically junk. It has a brushless motor which stalls out at any moderate resistance and heats up really hot now and the gearing is making grinding noises. Unfortunately I didn't buy the extended warranty and now have a piece of junk on my hands and $200+ less in my pocket. Unless you are going to use it only occasionally for home projects, stay way clear of this piece of equipment.

After 10days of light use, the chuck is done. I am just a tv installer, I'm just using this drill for screws. Haven't even tried the drill and the hammer drill. As of today the chuck broke while I'm at work. I didn't get any insurance because I thought at least it will last for a year, not even a month of use.
