An enjoyable read
This was a generally sweet story with a few of those more emotional moments that had me weeping. While I loved the romance between Harper and Drew, I also loved Harper opening back up to those relationships with her family after distancing herself from them for so long. This book is great at showing how grief affects everyone differently, how sometimes how you think you should act is not the best course of action for everyone, and how it’s such a consuming inescapable thing but that being open and vulnerable can be so beneficial. I don’t know if less of the wedding week and more of them adapting to long distance, or just more of that, might have served the story better but I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great childhood crush, fake dating, summer romance.

Another good read from this author
Harper went to her families place before carrying on to the lake where her sister was going to be married. Lots of memories spending time with her friends and Drew a boy she had a crush on. She wasnt expecting to see him there and it threw her because he was all grown up now and he was all man. Drew couldnt believe he was seeing the girl that he had wanted as a teenager and when she offered tequila he said yes. They ended up going to her sisters wedding together and Harper found her walls starting to come down with Drew being very attentive. Drew was a famous ice hockey player and it seemed everyone wanted to meet him . The wedding over meant leaving to get ready for his next season but Drew didnt want to leave Harper. They lived in different cities but he wanted to make something happen.

Such a sweet one!
I loved this book! It’s so sweet and I loved the idea of them being each other’s first crush/love. The sensitive topics are written carefully and there’s enough context about the main characters’ behaviour. Also, give me a Drew please!!!

Drew Halifax was a dream! A beautiful love story!
What happens when youre buying cheap liquor at the supermarket, looking like a drowned rat and run into the boy next door you had a crush on a decade ago? If thats not bad enough, hes still beautiful, but now ripped and a famous hockey player. Yikes. Id of cried! Harper.. invites him to drink the tequila!! Has a little pity party at her circumstances explaining that she is on her way to her sisters wedding, who she has a strained relationship with, without a plus one. So Drew offers to accompany her. She didnt expect him to actually turn up though.Drew Halifax was lush. Hes attitude, his heart, his actions. All amazing. It only took me 321 pages, I dunno why it took them so long! As the week goes on and the activities surrounding the wedding take place we get small glimpses into the history they shared and memories of her childhood. Hes a great listener and observant & slowly makes new beautiful memories around her painful ones.. somewhere along the way they start really falling. Was it ever fake? Harper is hesitant and doesn’t want to let her heart run away. Drews draw back was his career and the distance it would put between them. But the pull is magnetic and the chemistry is hot (!) she wasnt the only one with a childhood crush and from start to finish you cant help but swoon over his support, love and adoration for her.I adore hockey romances, this is written completely different to others ive read though. The fame etc is all there but its not the biggest thing with it being ‘off-season’. This is a love story filled with grief & healing. Reconnecting. Its fast paced and I devoured it in less than a day.“You look incredible in everything you wear, Harper. But in this? You look like Mine.”

Fun summer read but lacking a little
This was super fun and surprisingly emotional, I was surprised to find myself getting choked up on more than one occasion. It’s a cute summery romance that’s balanced out really well with some tougher topics (MH/death, fractured parental and sibling relationships).Notable tropes/elements:- Childhood friends to lovers- One of us is famous- Sports romance (hockey)- Wedding- Lake setting in summertime- One bed- Fake dating- Blonde heroDrew was a fantastic hero, kind to the bone and genuinely so likeable. Harper is less likeable but her character arc means you connect with her more as the book goes on. I loved Olivia and Amelia too. I did find there were a few too many names during the pre-wedding lead up.There was a little too much miscommunication for me personally, they danced around discussions they should’ve had for far too long.I really believed in the physical side of the relationship but struggled to see how Harper and Drew connected emotionally. Sometimes it just felt purely animalistic and not romantic.I would like to have seen some flashbacks to the last five summers from their childhoods, it would’ve established the connection a lot better.I did really like the resolution with Harper’s family. I liked how it wasn’t all fixed perfectly and it took time. It was very relatable and realistic. All in all a super fun book, I would totally recommend for the summer.

Sweet fake relationship romance...
I enjoyed reading about Drew & Harper. They knew each other as teenagers and reconnect as adults, with Drew volunteering to go to Harper's sisters wedding as her date for the week-long celebrations.Well written book. Harper's grief and struggles to connect to people since her father's death are realistically portrayed.Drew is sensitive, in tune with Harper and extremely hot! Great book.

4.5
Harper and Drew were adorable, I do think it lacked some of the background but otherwise it was such a sweet story and even though it was on a rushed timeline it made sense and I loved how there was no midway breakup and they actually work together to make it work, her going to the game and then suprising him in seattle really showed the love she had for him because he was busy and couldn’t find the time and she didn’t blame him for it. His entire week with Amelia’s wedding was precious and he pulled out all the big boyfriend moves. As well as the developing relationship with harpers family, that was a great secondary storyline.

✍️ REVIEW ✍️ “SIX SUMMERS TO FALL” C.W. FARNSWORTH ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5
