RSPB freestanding Bird Feeder
I have given the feeder 5 stars even though a screw was missing as it is a very good quality product and the profits all go back to the RSPB for the birds. I ordered it yesterday and it was delivered today, so very good on that score as well. There were much cheaper products out there, but these tables can so easily blow over if made from poor quality wood and buying the cheapest is not always the best idea!It was very well packed in a sturdy cardboard box, and the instructions were very good too.The negative points - pilot holes are not great, you really do need a drill /electric screwdriver unless prepared to spend ages and a lot of arm pain screwing the table together manually. Also, there were not enough screws and the 35mm screws for the top of the roof were missing, but I had a few spares available so no big deal. Screws are cheap so suppliers should err on providing a few extra rather than undersupplying! With an electric driver, assembly only took about 15 minutes. The acrylic feeding sheet is easy to slide out for cleaning and the feeder looks and feels nice, good quality. I think the wood is treated - questions seem to indicate it is, but it would have been a good idea for the RSPB to mention this on the packaging somewhere. It looks like it will last a good few years, and I hope our garden birdies enjoy their new feeding station!

A great exercise in elbow grease, ingenuity and the use of epithets.
Bought this to try and persuade the rats that enjoy our bird food that we no longer put food out (none on the floor now) so they would pack their bags and away to new adventures. This was quite easy to put together, the instructions were clear, and with any common sense not really required. It took me about an hour, without an electric screwdriver or drill, it required a lot of arm power and swearing (yes I'm afraid swearing was an actual requirement). The finished product is nice and sturdy and the notches in the raised border should make cleaning easy. Removing the tray is not so easy as you have to unscrew the supports for the roof and take it off as the tray sits under these supports. That wouldn't be a problem if the supports had not been the trickiest part to secure. For some reason the screw just would not grip on two of the struts, and I was too tired by then to go get a dowel or matchstick to shove in the hole to make for a tighter fit. So I can't see me taking the tray out unless actual things start to grow underneath it.We get high winds where I live and this has yet to be blown over. It took the birds a while to get used to the new feeding method but my sparrows are now using it, even though it gets a bit congested with the population I have, the blackbirds are still not keen though and prefer to eat from any spills. The only problem I have is that because of the admirable thickness of the central post, and fact that there are four supporting struts under the table (a good thing, makes it nice and solid) I have yet to find a baffle that I can fit to stop those pesky rats. So unfortunately I am still feeding Tabitha, Neville and the family. However the population seems to have stabilised and they are very pretty little critters (I have sonic thingies to stop them spreading into the house and all through the garden) Live and let live I say.

Ideal bird table
For me, this item ticks all the boxes. The platform is large - easily accommodates two collared doves at a time, and is enthusiastically used even by wood pigeons, who can perch on the roof before diving inside - without being ludicrously large for the small yard of our terraced house. The roof provides protection for the 'loose' food, keeping it reasonably dry except in near-horizontal driving rain, and shelters the birds without restricting access. The whole thing is very sturdy; it has shown no tendency to blow over, despite the recent gales, and the robust construction allows feeders to be hung on large S-hooks from the stout wooden sides of the platform. It is however not so heavy that it cannot easily be moved if need be. And it looks nice, too.My husband, who by the way is no DIY-er, found it very easy to assemble, and the instructions straightforward.Really I can't praise this item too highly; the birds love it, and so do I. I'm so glad I didn't go for one of the many cheaper items available - I feel this is great value for the money. I thoroughly recommend it.

Nice Table, Wrong screws supplied?!
Nice quality table, however the screw holes for the roof were far too large for any of the screws supplied, nothing a trip to local hardware store didn't fix, but still, I shouldn't have had to go missioning around for fatter screws. hence rating of 3 otherwise it would have been 5. Still the birds love my fat balls!

OK but screws missing l
Unfortunately package was short of eight screws as discovered on Christmas day. I had to make up from my elderly mother's scant diy collection in order to assemble it.Bird table was good quality otherwise.

Great Quality Bird table.
This is a great bird table that was really easy to erect and is saving me a fortune as I no longer spend my life throwing away wet seed that's been the victim of our great British weather! If you're buying this to deter larger birds then it's not for you as the roof sits quite high which means doves, pigeons, magpies etc can all feed from it but that's fine by me.The removable black shelf us a great idea too which helps keep everything clean. I bought the mini oxo brush and pan set too which helps keep everything clean without having to remove the shelf all the time.

On the whole a very good value for money product well up to RSPB
Arrived on time. When assembled a very solidly made bird table, generally very simple to assemble . Slight problem the pilot holes in the tray support struts were drilled in the wrong places which meant I had to redo them otherwise it would have been five stars. On the whole a very good value for money product well up to RSPB standard
