M6 Anchor Fixings 10 Pack

I have used the Rigifix M6 anchors to attach a large cantilever TV bracket (Peerless TVA450), advertised as suitable for TVs up to 65", to a 'dot & dab' dry-lined wall (plasterboard over insulating blocks - Celcon or similar, I think). The TV mounted on the bracket is a 48" slim LED type, weighing just under 12kg. The bracket itself is pretty hefty, weighing a couple of kilos at least, with a single articulated cantilever arm extending up to a maximum of about 50cm (20"). I had initially tried using more conventional wall plugs - 10mm x 60mm, which were bigger than those originally supplied with the bracket. Although the bracket appeared to be securely fastened to the wall, when I opened the cantilever arm to its full extent and applied some moderate down-force at the end of the arm, the wall plugs began to pull out of the wall. They clearly wouldn't have been able to cope with the weight of the TV with the cantilever arm extended. Fortunately I was able to extract the wall plugs, drill out the holes to 12mm and insert the Rigifix M6 anchors in their place (using 6 anchors in all). This time the re-mounted bracket held fast despite a significant test load applied on the cantilever arm (well in excess of the 12kg imposed by the TV). The anchors have shown no sign of losing their grip over the past couple of weeks, even though the TV has been moved around quite frequently with the cantilever arm fully extended. So I am well impressed with these fixings and wish I'd come across them sooner - it would have saved me a lot of time and trouble! A couple of points worth bearing in mind, however. Machine screws are used to fasten to the anchor inserts, so there is less tolerance than with conventional wall plugs and woodscrews. The holes for the anchors have to be drilled pretty accurately and perpendicular to the wall, otherwise it can be difficult to engage the screw into the anchor insert, with a risk of 'cross-threading' and stripping the thread (it should screw in easily - if you have to use any force, it's probably cross-threaded). This could be more of a problem if fastening through thicker material (for which a longer screw may also be required). Also, the supplied machine screws have a relatively small head, so washers are likely to be necessary if attaching a bracket with large screw-holes (as in my case). I'm surprised that suitable washers are not supplied with the anchors. Alternatively, short M6 threaded 'roofing bolts' or similar screws (with larger domed heads) could be used instead of the supplied screws.

Have used previously to hang tv's and heavy items to walls where they are plasterboard dabbed onto brick or breeze blocks. This usually leaves a gap which is not great when needing to hang heavy items. Normal plasterboard fixings are a waste of time and will just pull away and not be sturdy enough. These work by drilling a hole through the plasterboard and into the substrate. You then knock the long wall plug in until it is flush with the plasterboard. Now for the clever bit. A small metal tube is then inserted into the wall plug which effectively bridges the gap between the back of the plasterboard and the substrate. This means that you get a really solid fixing when you screw into it, but also it stops the plasterboard from being deformed and pulled in towards the substrate. Note that they come with special threaded bolts, not standard screws. You need a hex bit to tighten them and I would recommend using a variable drill to get the torque needed to screw them in properly. You may struggle if just using a standard screwdriver with the bit fitted. One final useful point - when inserting the small round metal tube you do this after you insert the wall plug. Don't try to fit the wall plug with the tube already in it.... It won't work! And to help you put it in, use a bit of wd40 or similar to help it glide in easily. Hope all this helps.

Id never normally leave a review but these fixings are fist class! Bought these to hang a large vertical radiator that weighed 55kg without any water in on to a dot and dab wall with thermolite block behind and they fix great. These will be my go to fixing on dot and dab walls from now on

Ordered on the Wednesday, posted on the Thursday arrived on the Saturday with free delivery which is very good these days with the postal system we have. Well packaged to which is nice to see. Yet to put the TV on the wall but they seem a very solid product that appears to be heavy duty and certainly looks more than capable of doing the required job of finally getting our 47" TV on the wall at last. 6 big plastic raw plugs, 6 very solid looking and feeling metal shafts and 6 1 inch (ish) bolts\screws to fix whatever it is you want to fix to your wall. I did have 2 slight concerns, and that was that there was nothing on the invoice regarding the requited drill bit size. But a quick look on the side of the raw plugs confirms what another member has said to require and that's a 12mm drill bit. It may help some if the required drill bit is mentioned in the product detail. Also as others have said either in this or another length or quantity version the screw\bolt head is to small for some uses (certainly fitting a TV bracket to the wall) and will likely go right through the spaces on a TV wall mounting bracket panel. Of cause this is nothing a handful of cheap washers won't sort but would still have preferred to pay that few pence more to have the washers included as part of the item than have to make an additional trip to go and buy them. Still, all in all they do seem to be the very best product for wall mounting heavy items where you have a plasterboard wall, a cavity and then a breeze block wall. Near a perfect product and would 110% buy again if and when required.

I had to to fit a 40" Plasma TV to an almost equally heavy swivel/tilt bracket which had itself to be attached to a dot and dab plasterboard wall. Didn't fancy the hollow-wall anchors for this job one bit so surfed the internet for the best solution and found the Ultimate Handyman video on YouTube claiming the Rigifix is best so ordered accordingly. Very easy to fix .. I happened to possess the right-sized Allen key to tighten the four bolts after drilling. I had originally planned on using six but after I tested one with the bracket I decided that six would really be 'overkill'. The job was done on my own with the help of a table and other items to raise the heavy bracket to the desired area on the wall and level with the pre-drilled holes. However, failing such deviously cunning solo planning, it is correct to say it is really a two-man job (sorry, ladies!) The holes marked have to be dead accurate to line-up the bracket and try doing that with one arm holding the latter! The end result of my Rigifix experiment is a stable, perfectly-level TV on the wall. As a 67-year old there is now undoubtedly more chance of me falling to the floor than the TV ... The perfect product for the task though I do agree with others a little sheet of 'dummies' instructions might be somewhat helpful for those who might not have access to a computer!

Bought these after doing some research online regarding the best way to hang a large flat screen TV on a wall that had been recently boarded (dot and dab), as part of a large house renovation. I didn't want to take any risks when it came to putting something heavy on the walls when they'd been boarded and it wasn't just into brick. Me being a total DIY novice and not wanting to mess this up I got in a friend who is reasonably handy with a drill to help. Now aside from the reasonably heavy duty drill bit you need to make the initial largeish hole in your wall and to go through into the brick behind, these were very straightforward to install and subsequently use to attach the wall mount bracket. My 55" tv is now safely mounted on my wall using just 3 of these fixings, and seems totally secure. You just use these screws instead of the ones that are supplied with whichever wall mount you've purchased and it works fine. Highly recommended as a safe option for mounting anything heavy basically! Will definitely be using these again.
