Many of my children's classmates have 30 oz Stanley tumblers in Elementary School. My children use the Nalgene 20 oz water bottles and we just love them. I fill the bottles with around 4-6 oz of filtered water the evening before school then freeze the water bottle. Make sure it's in an upright position in the freezer or else you won't be able to add liquid in the morning to the bottle. In the morning, I take the bottles out of the freezer and fill with fresh filtered water. My kids enjoy a cold bottle of water all school day! The reason I deducted one star from the pink bottle is there was a slight plastic aftertaste noticed at the beginning of use as compared to the other bottle which is clear plastic with a printed design. I contacted the folks at Nalgene and they provided some friendly advice which I will repost here for anyone else encountering this issue:"The resin itself is the same and the colorant that is used in the resin makes up such a small percentage I do not think that would be the cause of an off taste. Sometimes this can be the case with newer bottles and several cycles in the washing machine may help get rid of this. Some people are just more sensitive to that faint plastic scent or taste of our products. If washing them does not work you can also try adding a few tablespoons of baking soda to the empty bottle, fill with hot water and let soak overnight or even denture cleaning tablets which are specifically formulated to remove residue from plastics."I tried the baking soda soak and it has helped reduce the plasticey taste. I support made in America products, and am proud that Nalgene still manufactures in the USA. I anticipate these bottles will be used for years to come and I will not have to repurchase yearly to match the latest water bottle craze.
