Great mini series illustrating the inequality with which black & other ethnic groups are treated by the us crim. justice system
Bought this series following a recommendation from a friend. My wife and I really enjoyed it. John Turturro is brilliant (he usually is, tbh). We have recommended it to our friends too! Good cast, quality dialogue, (mostly) believable plot and an indictment of the inequality with which black and other ethnic groups are treated by the american criminal justice system.

stay with this for 20 minutes, you will be hooked.
This is one of the most compelling mini series I have seen, if not the best. If you can stay with this for 20 minutes, you will be hooked all the way through. I was a little unsure in the first 10 minutes but after 20, I was gripped and couldn't let go of it right to the end of the 9 episodes. The cast are superb, all of them and I would especially like to mention Riz Ahmed (Naz Khan) and John Turturro (John Stone), their performances being beyond praiseworthy from start to finish. Seldom do we get such engaging scripts these days so well done to the writers. I am not going to spoil this by revealing the story, just to say is one of the best series I have ever seen and will not hesitate to recommend it to crime thriller addicts. Oh, and finally a mention for one actor not in the credits – the adorable puss cat saved by John Stone, the cat with no name.

The Night Of is a very strong HBO drama and highly recommended.
I watched this on Sky Atlantic and loved it. One in a long line of excellent dramas HBO have done (True Detective Season One and The Sopranos, being my favourites). The story is excellent and there are several different types of storyline involved here. Crime, Prison Drama, Courtroom. The two British people in it are excellent. Riz Ahmed (who I had first seen in Nightcrawler) is destined to be a big star. Bill Camp is superb as the detective and John Turturro as the lawyer (a part intended for Robert De Niro, but he pulled out before filming started). I'm not sure where the story could go in a Season Two, but I would love more of this. I was happy with the price from Amazon, so soon after it was released and it looks good on blu ray.

Compulsive viewing of a show that casts a critical eye over modern day policing and the judicial system in the U.S.A.
New York has never looked so bleak since the heydays of Andy Sipowicz and Bobby Simone in NYPD Blue. The script by Richard Price and Steve Zaillian is well served by all the actors taking part - plaudits have already been delivered to the leads John Turturro and Riz Ahmed but personally I was most impressed by an actress previously unknown to me namely Jeanne Berlin who plays the prosecuting D.A. Helen Weiss. All in all this has been one of the best programmes of 2016 which will no doubt be reflected come Awards time. Apparently there is talk that there might be a second season though whether this will be based on Stephen Moffat's own second series of Criminal Justice starring Maxine Peake remains to be seen - we can but hope.
