Essential Tool for Optimal 3D Printing
I recently purchased the Sovol SH01 Filament Dryer to address moisture issues affecting my 3D printing projects. This device has proven to be indispensable in maintaining filament quality and ensuring consistent print results. ✔️ Key Benefits: Effective Moisture Removal: The Sovol SH01 excels at eliminating moisture from filament spools, preventing common issues like stringing, bubbling, and poor layer adhesion caused by damp filament. User-Friendly Interface: The dryer features an intuitive control panel, allowing me to easily set the desired temperature and drying time based on the filament type. Versatile Compatibility: With adjustable temperature settings, it accommodates various filament materials, including PLA, ABS, PETG, and more, ensuring optimal drying conditions for each type. Continuous Drying Function: The option for continuous drying is particularly useful for extended printing sessions, keeping the filament in optimal condition throughout the process. ❌ Areas for Improvement: Size Considerations: While the dryer accommodates standard filament spools comfortably, larger or wider spools may not fit as easily. It's advisable to check the dimensions before purchasing. 💡 Final Thoughts: The Sovol SH01 Filament Dryer has become an essential part of my 3D printing setup. By effectively removing moisture from filaments, it ensures smoother printing experiences and higher-quality results. Despite minor size limitations, its performance and ease of use make it a worthwhile investment for any serious 3D printing enthusiast. ✔ Best For: 3D printing users seeking to improve print quality by maintaining dry filament. ❌ Not Ideal For: Those using non-standard or oversized filament spools without verifying compatibility. 👉 Overall: 5/5 – A must-have tool for achieving consistent and high-quality 3D prints.

Works well for drying filament, so good I bought a second one
This is a neat little unit that does exactly what it promises. I had no trouble fitting two standard 1kg spools inside, and it runs quietly in the background without any annoying fan noise or hums. The build quality feels solid, especially for the price & nothing feels flimsy or cheap. The digital display is pretty basic, it shows humidity and the remaining drying time, but not much else. That said, it does the job, and at this price point, I wasn’t expecting anything too advanced. One small gripe: the instructions recommend propping the lid slightly open during drying to let moisture escape, but there’s no built-in way to do this securely. You have to balance the lid on the edge of the clips, which feels like a bit of an afterthought. Not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of. All in all, it does exactly what I need it to - dries filament well, feels sturdy, and doesn’t break the bank which have all helped with the stringing and adhesion problems I was having. I’ve already ordered another one.

Works really well
Comes very well packaged looks good. It's air tight with the lid down and when drying it's stated the lid should be open on it's built in stand offs which double as closures. The controls are touch sensitive, a little over sensitive, you can set 40, 45 and 50C and the timer from 6 to 48 hours, not 6 to 12. You can see temp and relative humidity altho absolute humidity would be more useful. The base gets warm in use and the fan can't be heard in the day. If you're going to use the box to feed a printer, get 6mm threaded pneumatic connectors for 4mm teflon tube and swap out the existing ones, the nut can be reused. Also this will work way better(like all heater type driers if you out silica gel in there, propping the lid and letting the air circulate outside is a little hit and miss. I'd shut the lid and put silica in there to soak up the released moisture from the filament. Oh mine cost 40GBP it's now 60.

Stylish, Compact and Useful Filament Dryer
The Sovol filament dryer never fails to please! The design is very stylish and does not look industrial! I was drawn to this brand after reading many positive reviews from other owners. I initially bought one earlier last in 2024 and after being impressed with how it performed I decide to buy my second dryer. The price has always been marketed right and I believe it is a value for money product. The temperature range allows for heating at 40c to 50c. You can load two spools of filament rolls if they have a diameter of 60mm, if the diameter is bigger the dryer will only accommodate one filament spool! To reduce stringing, moisture levels and bed adhesion problems. I use the digital program to set the drying time and I also maintain drying during the printing process for better print results. The simplistic functionality of the dryer makes it user friendly and the clear bright LCD helps maintain visual awareness of progress from a distance. The motor sound recorded at an average of 49db. When the printers are running the fan noise is not noticeable. I particularly like the 4 filament outlet positions, this one a key point in my consideration for purchase. Overall this has been a really functional and cost effective addition to my stock and I am a very happy owner!

UPDATE: I replaced the Teflon seal with a Bowden M6 coupling and a bit of tube for stress relief. The nut that attaches the seal to the dryer is compatible with an M6 coupling for an easy fit. Works great. This dryer employs convection heating combined with desiccant to effectively dry spools of filament. Desiccant packs are not included but if you don't use both desiccant and effective circulation with the fan you won't get good results. Don't be fooled by reviews written by fools. Note: if you fill the enclosure to the brim with filament like is shown in the product images, the fan will be totally blocked off and will not be able to distribute heat with convection. You can feel it yourself; during a cycle the top of the spool will be cold while the bottom is hot. I recommend only drying two smaller spools or one larger spool, leaving the space in front of the fan unblocked so it can do its job. No, you can't just cheat and rotate them mid-cycle. The fan on my unit is very quiet and works well to move heat around the enclosure. The convection draws the heat out of the filament and by leaving a small gap in the hood early in the cycle, the escaping hot air will draw the bulk of the moisture out of the enclosure. Towards the end of the cycle, add desiccant packs and seal the hood. The desiccant packs will reduce the humidity of the enclosure beyond what is possible with just heat. The sealed and dry enclosure will actively suck the remaining moisture out of the filament. If you want your filament to actually be dry when you print with it then this method is the only one that will actively suck out the moisture that is tightly held in the filament. No amount of heating alone will produce the aridity needed to do this; desiccant, convection heat, and time is the only way to effectively suck the last of the moisture out. This may sound tedious but if you use a sub-optimal procedure you can only expect sub-optimal results. I have only had this unit for a few days but it seems well-designed with good surface feel. It has a responsive interface that is not overly bright or noisy. Time will tell if it lasts. I wish they would make the silicone enclosure gasket a little thicker to give it a more positive pressure seal.
