Amazing stuff
I've used a few Smooth-On products, but this by far has blown me away. Ecoflex Gel is a two part platinum silicone gel that is water clear! Usually most silicones including the original Dragon Skin and Ecoflex series are milky white, but this is the first platinum I've owned that is completely see through. This should make coloring it easier and potentially more bright with less pigment in my opinion.Typical pre-cautions with any silicone:- wear long sleeve shirts and have proper ventilation- wear nitrile (not latex) gloves.- Because of is incredible viscous nature (like a thin shampoo consistency), great care must be used in pouring out A and B components.- Best to cover your work surface with plastic sheeting used for painting to prevent damage to work surfaces (experience there).- If at all possible maintain cooler temperatures with platinum silicone when mixing. This will prevent the material from solidifying into rubber as platinum silicone is heat sensitive (cures faster with heat).- Spills can be cleaned by adding a bit of either component to what spilled depending on the size of the spill. Once rubber you can peel it up.Ok how it performs! I poured out equal halves by weight since the pour was small, less than a few grams for this test. Earlier I had a made a skin or membrane of Dragon Skin to which the gel would be backing and poured into the mold. You will notice while mixing it will have a TON of air bubbles, thankfully it has a 15 minute pot life so you can degass in a vacuum chamber if needed, otherwise, the bubbles rise on their own. It cured in 2 hours (maybe less since it was in a warm room) to a thick, but sticky gel. I recommend using a clean popsicle stick to test it as it will grip anything touching it! The casting will be soft and somewhat gummy, but that's to be expected since it's a gel.Once backed with another layer of Dragon Skin, I was surprised by how it reacted. The final encapsulated material will be firm, but supersoft and will start to wrinkle like skin when squished. It rebounds slowly to its original shape with a creeping motion. I have to test it with color, but so far you can leave it water clear if you have an opaque tint on the outer membrane like Silc-Pig White and none will be the wiser.Overall I'm very excited at the possibilities of this material! I think next I'll do a membrane of Dragon Skin FX Pro to see how much difference there is between original Dragon and DS FX Pro with this type of casting.Rock on!

The Possibilities . . . . . . are Pretty Cool
Some experimentation was needed, one of our molds was not the right material and prohibited it from setting up. I deleted one star was because their customer service was not real clear on the problem, but once we figured it out, it was gang-busters. I gave the deleted star back because they sent us samples of the different durometer (Shore I believe). The possibilities working with this stuff as shown on the interwebs was pretty cool. My engineer is happy, so I am happy too. - g

Tacky AF
This stuff can be thrown at a wall and stick to it, not ideal based on the project you need it for.. wouldnt come out of my aluminum mold even with mold release.. although it was fun picking it out lol

Great product! I used it to sticky up some walls in a haunted house. Only product that could do this without leaving residue on hands!
