Winning Chess Strategies (Winning Chess Series)

Everyone always asks what book they should get to learn positional chess as a beginner - this should be the answer. Yasser's Winning Chess Strategies is the perfect introduction for budding chess players. I tried many books before coming to Yasser's, and none were as accessable.

This is another book of a superb series on how to play chess and improve your game. Lively text with clear explanations, interesting and helpful. Useful for chess players of all levels who want to improve their game. Highly recommended, even players at a Superior level of achievement will find (be reminded of) useful hints and tips.

Great book for lower intermediate and more advanced players. Easy prose and good diagrams

I bought Winning Chess Tactics from the same series and paper was white and nicely printed. The strategies book however is on much cheaper paper. Such a shame. Surprised as same series bought only couple of weeks apart.

Excellent book, covers a lot of key points in a clear and well written prose.

Great book but all the text in the book is for some reason underlined. Makes it very hard to read in Kindle.

Overall the book is well written and explained by Yasser and with wit.

I had gotten Yasser's book on Openings a few months back, and I beleive the two of them (this one and the previous one on Openings) are a great combo for amateur to intermediate players. I myself am rated about 1600-1700 (strong C class player), that's according to a few tests I've done online and with my local chess club as well. With a lot of on board practice, I am sure any amateur can take these two jewels and sharpen their overall game. These books are really easy to follow and I was astonished how easy it was to play out the examples while reading the chapters. I have been playing for close to 10 years and I wish they had these books around when I was starting off. However, one has to mention that you need to practice, practice and practice! LOL I know it may be a little hard to find a person to play with on a regular basis, so please join a club/play with people as much as you can. With a wife, baby and full time job, I agree that finding time to study these books and my game is not all that obvious. I do not play online against a computer, I don't like the experience. I prefer to play against another human being (in person) and have that sort of interaction. Now, I digress, sorry about that... In summary: buy this series, you won't regret it! You'll see that after a few dozen games, you'll develop your own style based on Yasser's simple, yet effective strategies and be a better chess player. Cheers!

I'm 1500 chess com rapid and this book is amazing, examples are good and explanations are clear. The book is modern and much better than for example My System by Nimzowitch.
