Excellent quality optics.
I bought the genuine Donegan visor after seeing it being used & recommended by a railway modeller so paid the premium over the similar looking cheaper alternatives & am pleased I did. The build quality & glass optics are first class although I can't compare to any of the alternatives. I've bought the cheaper versions of tools & things before & always regret it. With the DA-7 2.75× magnification version you do have to hold things very close as the focal length is quite short but that isn't a major issue for me. I have invalidated my warranty by modifying it straight away but the genuine Visor light you can buy is a xenon bulb with a battery pack attached by a cable so aren't overly concerned by my modification. I've pop riveted a 15mm pipe clip to mine & attached an Olight i1R2 Pro rechargeable key chain light. It's very light, has 2 power modes & is loads better than the genuine Donegan alternative. I hope this helps.

Perfect for detailed illustration
The Optivisor is perfect for the detailed botanical paintings that I do. It is surprisingly light and easy to adjust. The lenses are glass, so will not scratch as easily as plastic ones, and there is much less distortion. The lenses can be replaced very easily if you want a different magnification (other lenses available separately). The lenses tip up when not in use, so no need to keep taking the Optivisor on and off. For anyone who wears glasses, the Optivisor works with or without your glasses on. All in all, a very useful and effective product that I would recommend to anyone who needs to work with fine detail.Just one word of warning - the lenses have a very small depth of field, - for instance, the 2.5 magnifier works at a distance of 8 inches from the object. If that is too close, you can get the 2.0x magnifier, which operates at a distance of 10 inches, or if you don't mind working even closer, the 3.0x magnifier requires a distance of 6 inches to focus properly. I find the 2.5x is perfect for me and I very quickly got used to this limitation. Optivisor DA-5 2.5x Head Band Handsfree Magnifier Visor

Superb clarity lenses, comfortable to wear, but let down by the poorly designed plastic mounting
The lenses are great, really clear.I purchased the No. 5, which magnifies to 2.5x with a focal distance of 8 inches.I can comfortably wear my normal spectacles while using the optivisor, and the actual device is light and comfortable around the head. There are a couple of annoying things about the design of the cheap plastic casing. It would be ok, but it seems they have deliberately designed it so that you can't mount your own LED headtorch to the top.Not serious, I will drill a couple of holes in it and attach a mounting plate that I can use to hold my own headlamp. Also, the lenses are bolted onto the casing, so if I want to purchase additional lenses for different focal lengths, there is no quick way to swap them.Again, not a big problem and I will find some quick-release screws, or make some kind of little holding pins to replace the nuts and bolts if I decide to purchase additional lenses, but they really could do better on this aspect of the design.

great buy and I'm using them a lot
I love these....I would say it's important to buy the correct magnification for how you work as the focal length is pre set. I chose to buy 2 pairs....one for close up work and one for general stuff. If I'm honest I use the 1.75x a lot more than the 3.5x. These are nicely build and very comfortable too...the lenses are clearly high quality and I think thats really what you are paying for. Price of extra lenses make buying a second set more sense than additional lenses.

Well made and quality item
These are very good for doing close up work, such as detail painting on figures. The fit of the headband is very good and feels secure and it fits over my glasses well.I just wish different magnification lenses were supplied, like you get with the cheaper magnifiers.

Very expensive for a bit of plastic
Was expecting a lot more for my hard earned pennies !Yes they do the trick and are very clear but £60.00 , suggest they reprice them at £30.00 !!

Quality but at a price
These are great for general close bench working. The optics are precision coated ground glass (hence the high price) and are very comfortable. There are much cheaper variants out there but i've found none match the optical quality of these.
