Wow.. this is the first hair dye that didn’t turn my hair black and actually dyed it the same color as it said it would.. and my hair feels so healthy. Ordered myself two more boxes of the Ash Brown! Love this color! Took out all the red copper i had in my hair

i bought the brown ash color and this is the first time seeing the results that match the color on the box to the T! It's very gentle on your scalp, doesn't have a foul odor and I let it sit for about 40 minutes instead of the recommended 30 because I have dark asian hair and it worked out perfectly. I will definitely purchase again.

Product: eZn Touch Vegan Permanent Hair Color (Ash Brown) I’ve been dying my hair myself using boxed hair dyes for more than 8 years now and I’ve used a few box dye brands. I was in the market to try out other hair dye brands and Korean hair dye, with its wave of kpop stars and unique and trendy dye colors, was on my list. I’ve generally found American drugstore hair dyes (i.e. L’Oreal) to not show up well with my Asian black hair since I don’t bleach my hair as a separate step prior to dying my hair (permanent hair dyes DO contain a small amount of bleach aka hydrogen peroxide but it’s milder than a whole separate bleaching step). The kit came with everything that one needs, and in high quality as well. This is the first time I’ve seen a cloth protector plastic shield included in a box dye, and it was super handy to not get dyes on your skin and clothes. There was even a piece of sticky tape on the neck location to let you tighten the plastic shield to your body. The included glove was also one of the highest-quality ones I’ve ever come across. The rest of the kit is standard (minus the conditioner). I dyed my hair deep cherry color (didn’t bleach my hair) 7 months ago with a Taiwanese box hair dye (which is amazing and probably my favorite box dye brand thus far). I didn’t wash my hair for 4 days to protect my scalp (excuse my hair in the Before photo). I started from my roots, moved onto the top of my head, the lower back of my hair, and finally worked my way to the long strands to get even coloring. I have long hair as shown in the picture, and I fully coated my hair with one box of the dye. The chemical scent is expected and not the strongest I’ve experienced, but I still advise ventilation. Washing the colors off was a breeze and the water was clear in less than 2 min. This step has really come a long way for box dyes, where I remembered my first dye job (cough L’Oreal cough) took almost 10 min for the water to clear up, and more color was coming off during the following washes as like it’s a paint bath. For this box dye, no additional color came off after the shampooing step using the included shampoo; no color came off two days later during my second wash, and the third wash. The colors were locked in. My only complaint is that there was no conditioner included. My hair felt dry after the shampoo so I applied my own hair products. -1 star here. As for the color itself, one never gets the same hair color as shown on the box. It’s not “red-brown” like my previous hair color, but it’s also not “ash-brown” to me. I’d call it cool-tone Brown. The color IS similar enough that one can convince themselves that this is Ash-brown if you look at it a certain way. I took pictures of it under a few different lighting colors for reference (it looks more red in photos than real life). It even out my faded hair color and deepened it to a trendy color that’s quite suited for the wintertime, which I’m happy with. The hair that was previously colored did show up slightly lighter than my newly grown black hair, but the color difference is very faint and my whole head is not patchy. While this is not a typical color that I go for (different shades of red and chestnut brown), it’s still a pretty color that I’m glad to have tried out now. Overall, this box dye is on par with my favorite Taiwanese box hair dye brand “Colorful卡樂芙” minus the conditioner :’( In my humble opinion, it’s of better quality and color payoff than most American drugstore brands for box hair dye for Asian hairs. It has no ammonia, THB, phthalate, triclosan, and I also didn’t see PPD (paraphenylenediamine) on the ingredient list either. The ingredients checks out with me. **** I have not tried the DIY hair dyes that comes in the squeeze tube forms from Sally’s beauty to comment on potentially higher quality, salon grade products. I’m solely reviewing on box dyes as I enjoy them due to the simplicity. While box dyes have bad reps for being damaging to the hair, I really don’t see issues with it as long as one follows proper instructions and hair care, and doesn’t set one’s expectations too high with fancy coloring and gradient effect. Do your own homework to see if box dye is suited for you.

I am torn between 3 stars and 4 stars. 3 stars because I would not order it again and 4 stars because it works above average. I have been dying my hair myself for 25+ years and have used various lines of hair color: regular, vegan, henna, etc. As growing older, I no longer fully dye hair and touch up grey hair only, but made an exception for this product. For review purposes, I posted a picture of before and after - both are after showering without applying any hair product for better comparison. Here are the findings: (Pros) * It does not smell like a typical dying product. * Not messy (thick lotion texture), easy to clean when mistakenly dropped on the floor. * Vegan. * Soften the hair. * No hair loss, no hair breakage. (Cons) * It does not smell of chemical dye stuff but does smell of strong flowery perfume, so strong that not sure which one would've been better. * Application is inconvenient. I wound up using it with my plastic comb. * Takes longer than typical hair colors (30 min vs 20 min) * Vegan but out of 51 ingredients, 5 of them are marked cautionary (to be fair, it might be still better than others). * The color on the package is very misleading. * 70% coverage of grey hair.

A few things about me that are helpful to know: - I haven't dyed my hair in years. I got to the point where hair dyes were starting to irritate my skin, so I just decided to stop doing it. - I have short, naturally curly, fine, brittle hair. In my teens and 20s, I dyed my hair ALL the time. I did not know what I was doing or how much damage I was causing. Now, despite having buzzed off all my hair a couple years ago, it still grows in like straw and is just in an overall sad condition. - I probably shouldn't be tempted to dye my hair, but as you can read above, I'm awfully stubborn. When I got this eZn Touch Vegan Permanent Hair Color in the mail, the color bottle had leaked during transit (the weather has been pretty extreme lately, so that's not surprising - everything was packaged really well, this was just one of those things that can happen sometimes). I was really excited about trying this dye because there are so many K-beauty products that are amazing, and I didn't want to miss out on something great. It didn't seem like a ton had leaked out, so I felt confident that it would still be fine to use - after all, my hair is short, and it was only going to need one box anyway. This was easily the best hair dyeing experience of my life. Like, so good that I kept texting my best friend to tell her about it. First, I normally prefer to use nitrile gloves when dyeing my hair, but this box came with plastic ones. On the plus side, they're durable plastic and not the kind that splits easily. The other thing that came in the box that was really cool was a little plastic cover to put over yourself so that you don't spill the dye on your clothes. That's so awesome! I've never seen another manufacturer do that, and I found it to be very thoughtful (because no matter how experienced you are, you always spill a little something). The instructions were very easy to follow, and nothing out of the ordinary if you've dyed hair before. There's no need to trim the top of the developer bottle - which is wonderful, because I hate doing that. While there is some smell to the dye, it's nowhere near as terrible as regular dye. Ordinarily, using dyes will give me a headache from the smell and often make me dizzy, but the scent from this dye is very light - not quite pleasant, but very manageable. The application was a piece of cake - the bottle is easy to squeeze, even with arthritis in my hands, and I was able to fully coat my hair without worry that I was missing spots. Another fantastic point: the dye didn't irritate my skin at all. My skin is tremendously sensitive, but during my 30 minute wait, it never felt irritated or hot. Once my time was up, I rinsed my hair until the water rain clear, and used the shampoo oil that came with the dye. If you've dyed your hair before, you know that the little after-dye shampoos are usually the best part. This was no exception. It smelled like a crisp, green apple, and if I could buy it to use regularly I would. My hair felt outstanding by the time I was done. It was soft. It had volume. It didn't feel like straw. Best of all, it really did cover all my grays!
