Fixes What Jeep Designers Screwed Up
My wife has a 2003, first-generation Jeep Liberty that she adores. I remember when the second generation came out and she said she couldn't stand it, mainly because of the door handles. We both thought the days of having to push a button with your thumb to open car doors were over. They're ugly and the cylindrical guard around the button is famous for breaking thumbnails. These conversion handles are pretty cool! They make it very easy to open the doors with your arms full of stuff. I use my Jeep JKU for work and very often have two hands full of mail that I have to load. Eliminati the thumb button has made my work much easier.Installation should only be attempted by mechanically-inclined people experienced in the R&R of interior door trim panels. Also, when your handles arrive, the first thing you should do is throw away the instructions. They are completely worthless. Here are the replacement instructions, written in plain English:1. Remove interior door panel or swing gate air vent*.2. For swing gate, unclip lock rod and move to the side. For doors, remove rubber grommet and drill 1" [25mm] hole that aligns with the front handle screw.3. Remove the two 8mm nuts holding the old handle and pull handle off door. Be very careful when pulling your socket out of the hole or else you'll be drilling another hole. It helps to loosen the nuts and then use a grabber tool to remove them the rest of the way.4. Temporarily remove the button from the new handle and grease the inside of the button area where it rubs the base.5. Remove the spring and retainer from the old handle with a small Torx and screw it onto the new handle. Be careful not to lose these small screws!6. Install items removed in Step 4 onto new handle. Do not over-torque the small screws; they should be snug, but not tight.7. Install new handle using the two nuts removed in Step 3. Consider using the grabber tool to thread the nuts onto their studs.8. Place duck tape over the hole(s) you drilled and replace the grommet.9. Reattach lock rod inside the swing gate.10. Replace interior door panel or swing gate vent and make sure the window operates properly.Don't bother removing the red double-sided tape backing; it's useless.* For the swing gate, the air vent is removed by pulling the left side straight out.As for value, a set of 5 was about $160 at the same time a 3-pack was on sale for $80, so I ordered two 3-packs for the same price as one 5-pack, and now I have a spare.

They are a good idea, bad design
I bought these about 4 months ago and they were easy to install. They were a little on the flimsy side but my kid was able to get in and out without issue. After about 2 months, they started getting stuck in the open position leaving me unable to close my doors. The push rod or pin would get misaligned with the opening lever and wedge to the left or the right. I would have to completely remove the handles and realign the pin/rod manually. This wore out the adhesive on the sticky pad and there is lots of wiggle room. I tried to contact the seller directly but was sent to amazon customer service. They said my return time was over and they’re my problem now. I was a little on the fence about 3 door handles for 80$..I will go back to my stock ones, which I’m glad I kept. I hope this helps.
