The ALZO Horizontal Camera Mount, Is well made & worked as expected
The ALZO Horizontal Camera Mount (HCM), functioned as Expected.Pro Grade Tripod: With an iPhone, there was no need for a Counter Weight, when the HCM was extended to it's Max. With a DSLR Camera, the Counter Weight was helpful to steady the tripod.Inexpensive Tripod: The Counter Weight was Necessary, even if the HCM was Not extended to it's Max. The The Counter Weight stieded the Tripod and prevented Sag of the HCM. No matter what Device was Mounted on the HCM (Smartphone, Tablet or DSLR).Also, The Bluetooth Shutter Release (that came with the HCM), was very handy with My iPhone.I used a 10 sec. timed Exposure, for My DSLR. The HCM Bluetooth Shutter Release, did not work with my DSLR Camera.I am very pleased with performance of the ALZO Horizontal Camera Mount. I recommend it for anyone needing to hold their (Smartphone, Tablet or DSLR) over an item they are attempting to Photograph.

Shoot straight down from your tripod!
I purchased this product because I needed to digitize a whole lot of family photo prints (scanning was way too slow and tedious). Photos were much easier to position if they were horizontal on a flat surface. I have a good tripod but it was impossible to shoot straight down. If I didn't, the photos would "keystone". It was easy to set up (I only needed directions to set up the bluetooth remote). Once I had it dialed in, I was able to reproduce a boatload of pictures in a very short time! It was a great solution for this purpose and, I'm sure I'll find more useful applications!
