Power Trip: Crackled When Met With Water, But...
Classic, formulaic Jackie Collins, but I thought this just okay. Even with her spicier-than-usual telling of sex scenes and the twist ending--whooo-hoooo!--I wanted to like this more. Though, however, I found myself really getting into Flynn. Unlike with Lucky Santangelo, Collins fleshed him out in a short period of time rather than waiting a full series or a few books in we get to know him. She also, IMO, robbed us of the joy of having Sierra confront her jerk Senator husband; that would've made me stand up from the leisurely soak of a bubble bath and cheer! On the whole, the book felt rushed, a bit, as if it were in a hurry to get to the end; I mean, c'mon, how much can you write about on a luxury yacht for a week? And the cultural references were a kick: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Beyonce and Tyra, Gaga and Rihanna were nice touches, but not overbearing. But she did rob MY joy of trying to guess which celebrity she was fictionalizing. I know, I know, it's been done, but still ... would've been nice to be led to wonder just the same? With the likes of the Kardashians and Real Housewives around? :)I found Jeremy a whining ladyboy but a contradicting good-for-laughs-in-a-I'm-always-butthurt kind of way (aren't any in the homosexual community having their radars always switched to ON for sots like him to tell to go jump in a lake?). Bianca just got on my nerves, and Alesandr was as unknowing to the reader as Collins made him out to be, which, for me and in my opinion, was not her usual writing style. Either she's really growing as a formulaic writer, or breaking out of this method working for her to try a different route, but one she's not scared to really louse up in. You can't know you've done something wrong until someone points it out, and even then, it might not always be.Anyways...it's not my girl Lucky, but it's a strong start. and if Flynn's the male equivalent to the millennial version of Ms. Santangelo, she's got a series character winner. Solid start to (I hope!) a fine series.

Entertaining and scandalous!
The title of this book alone is enticing enough to warrant a purchase--the book can be summed up in one line: "The Power Trip is about a bunch of mostly rich people travelling on a luxury yacht."Well, it was certainly easy enough to guess who some of the characters were partly based on, or "inspired by" in terms of real-life counterparts. The character development was superb and the story line was also really interesting--the end was a bit of a surprise to me *won't reveal too much in case of spoilers*. The end seemed a bit rushed...but on hindsight, I guess I would not call the end thoroughly unrealistic. This book was like a high-quality celebrity gossip magazine, in the form of a novel. Far from being trashily forgettable, what I really like about Ms. Collins' writing is her unique style of maintaining an intense focus on relationship and sexual dynamics--the way she does it certainly does not cheapen the story in any way (in fact, the opposite), which is why I am a great admirer and fan of her writing career and contemporary stories.

Collins is a great author, but this one unfulfilling at end...
I have read every single Jackie Collins book in the universe, and was super thrilled to buy and read this one. Now, it's true that I love all things Jackie, and this book was a great big fun read...but the ending really left me cold. I am no stranger to the usual " six months later" update endings, but for some reason, they felt rushed and incomplete in this book. Maybe I say this because not all of the characters ended up where I would have liked...but it just felt off. The bulk of the book is well done, and in Collins style, a true page turner. I read it in about 2 days. I could not put it down. She is one of the best novelists of all time. However, the book is just a bit on the flat side. Some characters not too well developed, and the boat aspect was new. There were scandals, sex, and controversy, but this one felt sub par. I think true fans will enjoy it, but if this is your first Collins book, go with another one. The Lucky series is amazing, as are earlier works set in Hollywood.

Good read.
I really liked this book, it was a fast read, with strong characters, and an ending that wasn't happy for some of the characters as you would have thought. I've read may of Jackie Collins books and I'm never disappointed. She always has strong characters but the names she gives them sometimes, I mean really the daughter of one of the characters named Rebel? Really what a stupid name. And the character Jeromy, you just want to throw him overboard. He was an awful person. But all in all a good book.

What else would you expect from Jackie Collins?
I read Jackie Collins novels for exactly what they're intended for, and that's pure mindless entertainment. This book didn't let me down at all even though I know there were plenty of negative reviews. What are you expecting to get out of her books? You get the glamour, celebrities, jealousy, sex, and sometimes a little intrigue. I read through this book voraciously and had a hard time putting it down. My only criticism is how uneventful the ending was and having a few of the characters not get the happy ending or others their comeuppance that was expected. Either way, I would still recommend the book because it's a fun and fast read.

Great book lots of surprises
Good reading and fun. I liked the drama wish they put Sierra and Flynn together that would be a nice ending.

A nice, exciting read
Let me start by saying, I love pretty much anything from Jackie Collins and this book is no exception. I loved all of the twists and turns that this book had. There's the typical sex and scandal you'd expect from a Jackie Collins novel, and the characters are very well written. I was a tiny bit disappointed with the ending, but there was a nice little wrap up of all the individual stories. I guess I just wanted some of the characters to have a different ending than what happened. You'll see what I mean ;)I would definitely recommend this book to any Jackie Collins fan

Couldn't get into this book
i was being all nostalgic and though let me purchase some Jackie Collins books. I used to enjoy reading her books back in the day.Fast forward to 2016, just can't get into her books. The Premise of the book just seems so dated and cliche

Not one of Jackie's best
I thought I'd read this after seeing a 5 star review in my local paper by a (usually) trusted critic. I struggled to get into it until the actual trip, as there were so many characters and the plot didn't seem to be going anywhere fast. I was going to give up on it but am glad I finished it, although its nowhere near as good as Jackie's much earlier work, eg Lucky. It's mostly a sex romp with a bit of intrigue thrown in for good measure, which is Jackie's trademark, but this one fails to hit the spot, no pun intended! Her earlier works were really good, fast paced and with an air of mystery about them. How times change; and I realise now why I stopped reading her books years ago.I think this would be okay for a holiday read but that's about all.

Jackie! When do they get on the boat??
I last read jackie Collins when I was 15 and enjoyed it very much. Having read Malcolm Gladwell's Blink recently (which I did like!), I thought I should kind of let loose and read something 'fun' and entertaining. I read about a third in one day expecting the story to kick off any second, and it just never happened. I'm afraid I gave up, the characters sounded interesting but they never got further than their home turf, and the boat trip promised still hadn't happened. Maybe something fantastic happens in the remaining two thirds, but I doubt it'd be enough to sway my opinion I'm afraid. Saddest of all...I'm definitely not 15 anymore. Maybe one for jackie's die-hards.

too many characters , and a bonk too many
Read it in a day, and eliminating the confusion of having so many characters and secondary plots, one might from that aspect, gather -it's an easy and solid holiday read. Storyline and final sagas seemed a bit predictable; but, ITS 15 years since I risked reading JC 's offerings and all that seems to have changed is more involvement for homosexuals, an overindulgence in oral sex and a whole bunch of characters with proclivity for 'a quickie' , sometimes , in the most absurd of situations !PS She should sponsor a mouthwash !

Escapism at it's best
I love a bit of Jackie Collins every now and then to escape from everyday life and provide some light relief after reading books with a heavier subject matter. This has quite a large cast of characters, but I found it quite easy to remember who was who as they are well described (albeit slightly stereotyped and often seemingly based on famous people). You know from the start that something bad is going to happen to one of the characters, but the twists and turns keep you guessing right up to the end.
