TLDR: it indeed works, and is absolutely worth the ~$40, just take some time to get attuned to how it operates (although the instructions aren’t THAT bad, plenty of simple YT videos will explain further) and remember it has both a learning curve and limitations like all technology.What it IS: a convenient highly compact rechargeable counter-surveillance scanner that’ll pick up radio (RF) signals, magnetic tracking devices, and hidden camera lenses. These are all separate functions; the RF scanner needs to be calibrated each time you use it (as would any) to the exact point where it only picks up abnormal signal peaks, around the 270° mark relative to the viewfinder compass, so it’s best used with all your own gadgets turned off. The camera lens finder works best indoors and functions by highlighting the reflection of other camera lenses in the viewfinder with near-infrared LEDs on the back; they have an adjustable strobing frequency but I haven’t found a reason to use anything except the default non-blinking one. The magnetic probe is the most niche, and uses the detachable rigid-ish wand as a Hall effect sensor for picking up the abnormally strong magnetic field of GPS/RF tracking devices. This isn’t due to their surveillance function, but rather a side effect of how they’re usually attached to cars/etc via powerful neodymium magnets - you likely won’t find use for it otherwise since it isn’t detecting the GPS component itself. The RF detector is the most fun to play with (if set correctly, it’ll buzz when your phone is receiving a text like the PC speakers of yore) but the lens finder will likely be the one you actually find “bugs” with, typically undisclosed cameras in rental rooms (and the interior of all Tesla cars - those indeed are always on and accessible to the owner 😐).What it is NOT: 🚫 a non-linear junction detector (NLJD), which is frankly beyond what most folks would reasonably need. The NLJD is the only tech that can detect *any* electronic circuit via a sort of echo signal bounced back from the semiconductors present in all electronic devices. It’s the kind of countermeasure you have to request a quote for, and since the K18S here doesn’t have one, it won’t be able to detect extremely specialized bugs like hardwired phone taps and other “man-in-the-middle”-style data skimmers that possess neither transmitters nor visible lenses. If you suspect one of those, I’ll just say even the best batteries can’t keep a device active more than a few days (it would need a power hookup, easily accessible and away from the main line, lamps/switches/phone/etc) and unless it’s in the phone line or someone is sneaking back to reclaim the SD card, it would still have to intermittently transmit to a receiver of some kind (doesn’t matter if WiFi, 5G, or shortwave - RF scanner would catch it). As for cameras, unless you have DARPA after you with some kind of crazy future tech, the lens of every known camera is visible if it can see you, so a good eye and the infrared viewfinder will work no matter how the camera is hooked up (see video for what it looks like).Overall a recommended buy 👍

I recently got my hands on this Hidden Camera Detector and I'm seriously impressed! While I haven't tried out all the features yet, the infrared camera detection is a total game-changer in feeling better about AirBNB stays.This little gadget has made me feel way more secure. Whether I'm in a hotel room or an AirBNB, I can easily check for hidden cameras using the infrared mode. It's so simple to use and gives me peace of mind I never knew I needed.I haven't had a chance to play with the GPS detector or RF signal scanner features yet, but having them in my back pocket for extra security is nice.In short, if you value your privacy and want a handy tool to help protect it, this Hidden Camera Detector is a must-have. It's easy to use, effective, and just plain cool. I'm giving it a solid five stars!

When I got this I was susceptible.... I checked it out and started looking for wifi signals. I have installed many wifi outlets and switches in my home. The Detector started going off where I had no cam then I followed the signal to the wall wifi switch! It finds them all! Even my Cams!I purchased it because we were going on vacation at a VBRO and I don't trust many renters (I know I would have at least one cam to see people coming and going). It worked great on the vacation and I found all devices BUT a Cam and it did lead me to the cable modem which was hidden!Great value for a piece of mind!

I stumbled upon this device on Amazon after receiving a friend recommendation. Using the device was a breeze and it provided me with a sense of security.In certain areas, I had to fine-tune the sensitivity to specific frequencies. For instance, I needed to adjust the dial to increase sensitivity to various frequencies in some parts of my home. In contrast, I had to lower the scanner's sensitivity in other areas to prevent it from immediately alarming at the highest level when scanning items like outlets, ceiling fans, or radiators. This device offers excellent value for its cost, especially when considering that local professionals quoted me over $1,000+ for a similar professional scan.

The device is a little flimsy and delicate. However, the functionality seems to work well. I use it to help locate sources of RF interference to limit connectivity issues. No complaints
