Some pieces are made in China. Generally, price is the give-away but also the packaging. If the box is white with red and black lettering, it is made in the USA; if the box is black with red and white lettering, it's made in China. I've used All Clad since 1990 and I think they have only recently (within the last 5 years?) had products made in China. I've never had a problem with any piece I've owned. It's well worth the investment.

Yes, it’s a stainless steel cooking surface. I’ve used the pot several times over the years to make bagels with a brief water/lye bath prior to baking, and there have been no ill effects. This cookware has stood up to lots of punishment, and it’s still going strong.

Q: what is the difference between all clad stainless and stainless MC2

MC2 is 2 Layers of aluminum and an inside layer of stainless steel with a brushed finish. It is primarily a true commercial product, and a bit less expensive than the Stainless/Aluminum/Stainless most people associate with All-Clad, while still having the durability and non-reactivity you'd expect from the stainless cooking surface. Because of the aluminum construction it won't work on an induction range.
