I love the design but it has a bit of a weird texture

Looks like wrought iron!
The resin has good texture, making it look and feel like rough wrought iron. Feels very sturdy and solid, is stable on a flat surface, and fairly easy to hold if you want to move it from room to room in a power outage. The only downside I've found so far is that the cups are a little big for the styles of LED candles I've tried so far, but should be adaptable to regular wax candles with a few drips of wax to hold the taper in place.
