A robust and reliable padlock
A very sturdy padlock. I have used it with the Abus stainless steel hasp & staple on my beach hut, my main concern is if the lock failed I would have a devil of a job to get in. It was initially stiff to lock/unlock, but a good drenching in ACF50 and it became silky smooth. Has been exposed to some extremely stormy weather over winter, salt water sea spray has caused no issues whatsoever. There has been some salt crystallisation on the surface, but this has had no effect on it’s performance. I believe if kept well oiled it will last many years.

Best padlock you can get for this price
A great padlock for the price. I have compared a wide range of padlocks and this has the best security features for it's price point. This padlock is extremely hard to pick compared to most as it uses the abus plus key way which only the most experienced lock pickers could get through, even then they would struggle. The shackle on this is extremely strong and small, also it's shape and size makes it very hard to cut. I imagine most thieves won't bother trying to remove the padlock but instead remove bolt or other hardware to get in. This padlock will be too much of a problem for more thieves so they'll look for a different way in.Make sure you get the 20/ plus version as it is the most secure out of the Diskus range, this is reflected in it's price point compared to the others in the range.

Three month review - Outside and exposed to the elements
Pros* The plus core is pretty well known as being near unpickable, most lockpickers would rather remove the door before trying to pick this.* We've had three months of the UK's worst torrential rain and heat - zero rust or issues operating the lock* Feels super sturdy and secure, the lock mechanism operates incredibly smoothly as you would expect for such a high end lockCons* Not really a con, but you really should buy the matching hasp & staple for extra security.

Please read before you buy
Hi there, I have recently upgraded my garage security and thought I would try a couple of "disk" padlocks as if bought in conjunction with a horizontal shrouded hasp it totally hides the shackle from attack. The problem is I am now on my third padlock, this one being my third. They just dont give me reliability when opening and closing them day by day.I originally bought 2 of diskus 20/80 off another website but one just went "grounchy" on me so I bought this one as an identical replacement 20/80. This too has now gone "grounchy" on me (in daily use for 2 months), let me explain what I mean. They work fine when you first buy them but after being used day after day the first thing you notice is that the tumblers misalign and you cant get the key all way in when trying to open it so you are there trying to wiggle the key to align the tumblers, a real pain when all you want to do is open the padlock. The other problem is the mechanism is not very fluid after a while, which I mean when you turn the key the shackle resists turning (both opening and closing). I have had a few occasions where I nearly angle grinded the lock off as they were resisting me opening it. I am now in the process of finding a more reliable disk padlock or just use a "normal" high security padlock. Both "failed" padlocks have had a good squirt of 3 in 1 oil and when they still played up I tried WD40.Because I have lost reliability in the padlock I now cant use it in an environment where i need to open and close it without it failing. I did use the second padlock on my bicycle in my shed as if that fails it is not the end of the world. At present I still have one diskus on my garage that works fine (3 months in use), but 2 of them that I have to replace, at £50 a pop I expected better. Both failed padlocks were used outside on an up and over garage door.A padlock, particularly on a garage door which I open and close daily should be reliable and simply open and close with no hassles, sadly I have had many hassles with the diskus 20/80.

One of the best of disc padlocks out there.
Probably one of the most secure of this type of disc padlock. Fitted with the coded Abus-Plus cylinder, it is far more pick-resistant than more conventional disc locks. You need to use the key-card provided to get additional keys cut. The cylinder is also protected by the stainless steel body, rather than an alloy surround (as in one of the lesser re-keyable Abus models). Neatly welded, it should last a long time - though I'm not sure how durable the black plastic keyway cover will be in the long run. A good lock for the money. Secure.

Usual Abus quality with a little extra security than your average diskus type lock.
Just got this lock today so can't comment on its weather resistance, but the lock looks well made and sturdy as you would expect from abus, the lock is a disk detainer lock and as such is much much harder to pick than your normal pin/tumbler lock (though not impossible) the shackle is hardened steel (would be better if it was boron alloy but at this price one can only expect so much) the welded seam that holds the two halfs together seems very well done (much much better than the seams i have seen on other cheaper diskus type locks) having a cover over the keyway (where you put the key in) is a real plus point and should help keep dust/grit/sand/dirt/and the weather out of the locks core, the lock comes with two keys and a key card which you have to produce before you can get another key cut (so put it somewhere safe but not too safe or like me you may find yourself forgetting where you put it :-) altogether it seems/looks like another great diskus lock from abus (yes there are cheaper diskus type locks out there but what your paying extra for here is extra security, like most things in life YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! The more you pay the better you get, though very occasionally this this doesn't always ring true, but in this particular instance it does, if you have something worth locking up then please don't try and save a few pounds/dollars/euros (or whatever currency you use) as it may well cost you thousands when that cheap nasty lock gets busted off with nothing more than a couple of whacks from small hammer, don't say i didn't warn you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ohh and i forgot to mention that if you need even more weather resistance than this lock (i.e salt water environment) then try the Abus 24IB/70 which is pretty much made entirely of stainless steel and/or other corrosion resistant metal.
